You guys have played that joke pretty dry. Of course it shows the lack of ideas that seem to be cursing the McCain camp.

Good reason, it was the Soviet national anthem. Big Grin

Aye comrade. The music does bring a tear (or a lot of them) to one's eyes, doesn't it?

Indeed it does anarchy. I remember Aug 21, 1968 very well.

Indeed it does Weinerdog. These great ideas from a guy that couldn't come up with any ideas on how to fix this Country. Yawn!

Wow the Mccook supporters are even more desperate than I thought. Can any of you McCook lovers on this board show me where anyone other than your brains, Limbaugh, Hannity, and Jack Kelly have called Senator Obama a Messiah or our savior? I doubt it because it's all made up by the right wing whack jobs that have taken over the Republican party.

It would be a mistake to call them McCain lovers. In fact, the people I hear rip on Obama so much almost always say that they don't even really like McCan, they just dislike Obama so much that they can't stop talking about him. Rather than support a candidate they try to tear one down.

I was barely live, August 1968, but being a historian (of sorts), I know of what you speak. The Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia was a complete embarrassment for the west.

How does it rate to lying so that you can invade Iraq?

Ug old arguement...
okok disregarding the fact that WMDs was not the only reason we went into Iraq...

To be correct you would have to say "How does it rate to being lied to, and invading Iraq". If you believe any lieing actually happened then it would have been by the C.I.A., MI6, Russian Specialists and the French I.A.

They all claimed Iraq had MWDs. (They still claim they did and they were removed via Syria in the 48hour window Bush gave Suddam to step down.)

The biggest stretch/lie to me was the IRaq/Al Qaeda links. They didn't get along at all. Saddam didn't like religious extremisim. It could take away from him.

Some of the WMD stuff was pretty flimsy, but most people did believe he still had stuff. They used stuff to support the idea that they knew was most likely false. Like I said though, most people thought he was hiding something.

I don't really buy that 48 hour window WMD moving thing, their is no documentation that I have seen for it. They raided all the offices and listened to the chatter, and interviewed a lof of generals and found no evidence of it from what I have seen. I think Saddam just didn't account for what was destroyed too well, and he was being difficult to save face and figured he could bribe his way out of trouble. I read accounts that even right up to the war, he thought they would back down for some reason.

We didn't need WMDs to go to war, he wasn't following the agreements of the cease fire, but when you make WMDs and Al Qaeda the focus, it looks bad when you find none (other than some old useless shells), and anyone with common sense would know the Al Qaeda thing is pretty much a lie from the get go.

http://kai.newsvine.com/_news/2006/07/30/306413-new-pro...qs-wmds-are-in-syria

The main-stream media never reported anything about this. Foxnews mentioned it briefly but that was it. Soon after this is when Israel bombed a warehouse in Syria...

There were several documents found stating WMDs had been moved to syria, also the military reported a large convoy crossing into Syria with-in 24 hours of the invasion. Several of Suddam's ppl said they knew of weapons going to Syria.
