My buddy and I were watching the Vice Presidential debate the other night and we kept hearing Palin talk about how she's going to win the war in Iraq just like McCain said the week before. What's funny about this is that my buddy and I were over there in 03 when Bush declared an END to the War and all major combat, what makes it even funnier is that he is currently back from Iraq on his 2 week break (R&R) & I didn't deploy this time because the last deployment ruined my sinuses and ability to breathe and we sat on my couch wondering what she means when she says she's going to win this war. There is no such thing as winning an occupation, and the surge did not magically restart the war so what are they talking about. You all seem pretty intelligent so maybe somebody can give me a logical explanation as to why McCain & Palin are talking about winning a war that has been over for over 5 years now?

I wonder if Palin reads the U.S. deaths daily in the paper like I do? This War was ill conceived, time to admit it and move forward knowing we gave the Iraqi people six years of our lives and money and support. Knowing we did all we could do to create a strong Government and Army in the Hostile Middle East. Even if that wasn't our original intentions. Give them a timetable and withdraw all troops. Don't put any more brave young men and women in harms way in Iraq. These bombings will be going until the end of time as long as we are there. No more 19 year old kids need to die for something that won't stop. They will be needed again soon and in Afghanistan. Let's regroup and get collected. When can you say the War is won? When the roadside, RPG's and Suicide bombings cease? Never, not while we are there. I don't look at it like well it's only 4,177 troops, One troop was one too many.

Thanks Hoosier for your service.

Oooo, I think we gotta win this war because, you know, energy is ahh important, and if you don't win the war, we'll have to stay in the desert and that sand'll just dries out ya skin, ya know. An one more thang, I can see Russia from my house, ya know.

Well said Loyal, well said.

Hoosier, as a retired navy veteran welcome home. I want to thank you for your service to our great nation. I also want to appologize for our government putting you and your comrades in harms way for so long and then having the gull to lie to you and say we're winning.

To all the other military who read this...thank you...from an old salty dawg "Fair winds and Following seas"

How as democrats or republicans can we not see the importance of getting our people out of a nation that (1) doesn't want us there and (2) doesn't give a rats (you know what) if our men and women die for their freedom? Regardless of your political views its time to end this and bring our moms and dads, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles home where they belong.

The only reason they talk about it is becuase they are asked what their plan is.

Plain and simple...... They have no exit plan, they never will, so they have to say they will win this thing in Iraq. No matter if takes 10 gazzillion years and 20 gazzillion lives to do it.
So Do You See It Now? Joe six pack is MIA in Iraq.
