I've been trumpeting this for many months now that Obama promises the sun, moon and the sky wrapped up in a shiny ribbon to get elected while he's done nothing as far as accomplishment except run for office.
His plan for national healthcare will cost $1.2 trillion most analysts predict and that's just the tip of the iceberg. And with a country heading into recession he has no hold on reality. But don't take my word for it, read the CBS News article: CBS: Obama Reality Check "If stupidity got us into this mess, why can't it get us out?" |

I'm surprised CBS would publish an article questioning Obama.

Yes fish, I was greatly surprised too and had to post it. What is more amazing is that it is such a rarity to see a mainstream media outlet actually do it's job of criticizing the obvious. "If stupidity got us into this mess, why can't it get us out?" |

Welcome to the world outside of Fox news. Everyone's been saying that both candidates' campaigns were designed before the market crisis. What if McCain had chosen Michael Bloomberg or Romney as a running mate instead of Palin? I don't know how many voters are aware that neither candidate has a plan for this crisis, but I think it's fair to say McCain would still be compared to GWB. Only there wouldn't be the radical right running mate to make it seem more true. |

I have seen estimates that make McCain's more expensive, and Obama's more expensive. I found a site that has a decent layout...Everything is interpretation.
McCain's impact by 2013: Tax policy: 417 to 485 billion debt Health policy: 54 to 65 billion debt Energy: Null - balanced. Spending Policy: 183 to 196 billion surplus. So grand total of 275 to 367 billion debt impact by 2013. Obama's impact: Tax policy: 360 billion debt Health Policy: 65 billion debt Energy policy: Null/Even Spending/Savings policy: 38 billion surplus. So a 387 Billion debt by 2013. So yes, on best case Obama is spending 20 billion more by 2013 if you take their campaigning at face value. I think we all know that they both will have to scale these things back. We can't afford to do it all, in our current state of the economy. link: http://finance.yahoo.com/taxes/article/105857/The-Costs...n's-Policy-Proposals Link to both studies on the page. I am not a economist, and I could link something showing McCain higher, but this study seemed decent. |

We know 90% of what these candidates promise will never occur. I hope the health care plan (for either candidate) falls into that precious 90% mark, and not into the 10% that actually gets done.
And I hope comprehensive energy reform is the one thing that actually does get done. |
