I'm not sure this was mentioned. After all the negative stuff posted here, we need to single out a positive!

Jared Allen has had a sack in three of the Vikings first four games. Yup, you guessed it. He did not have a sack against the Browns. Thanks Joe!

It doesn't end there. Although Cincinnati's Antwan Odom recorded a sack last week against Thomas, No. 73 was not at fault. Scrambling outside of the pocket by Derek Anderson led Odom right to the Browns quarterback for the sack.

What about Denver's Elvis Dumervil you ask? Sure, he had four sacks but if you remember those were when Dumervil was lined up against right tackle John St. Clair.

I look at it this way, he is very good. The only thing this organization did in a long time. if this team doesn't turn things around, i can see them trading him away in the last year of his contract.

No expectations, no disapointment

Good positive post. I've noticed the same thing. He is one of the players on this team that truely shines week after week. It will be real nice when have a team around him. Another positive is the fact that he gets recognized year after year as one of the leagues top OT even with no team around him.

His draft day picture still sticks out in my mind...fishing with his dad (I think) holding what I thought was a big Bass.

He likes it here cause he can wear the free orange hats he gets at work hunting...

i was defending him at work the other when everyone else was saying we shoulda taken AP. Thomas will have 12-15 SOLID seasons of production. AP might get 10. Thomas though not the sexy pick is a friggin beast!! I love that guy!

I don't care how early it is, here goes. Joe Thomas, the 1st New Era Browns Hall of Famer. Baring injury I don't see how it won't happen.

We had the LT. Now we have the C. Next we got to figure out the QB.

Very true baring injury he will easily have 10+ Pro Bowls and definitely go into the Hall, and also possibily being considered one of the best ever. Hopefully we can put a team around him and win some games.

Joe is having his best year. He has been absolutely awesome.

In addition to his physical prowess, Joe really has his head on straight. Did anyone else see his comments in regards to Leon leaving? Joe gets it. We need more players w/him mind set.

I can say this without hesitation. Had the Browns not drafted him and elected on AP, I would have cancelled my season tickets. There is not doubt AP is a great RB but at the time we needed an OL and since he has been on the Left side our QB's have been better protected.

I also had a mild disagreement with someone where I work. They were adament about AD being so much better than Joe Thomas. I understand it's easier to look at a running back's stats and use them for proof, but if you've watched the Browns this year Joe Thomas has been dominant.

There is no way I can ever knock the best first round draft pick we've had since the 80s. He will be the cornerstone for the Browns for the next decade.

Now if we could just find a Joe Thomas twin to play the right side we will be in good shape on the offensive line.

yeah too bad the right side has to makes the credits say we have one of the worst offensive lines

the right side of our O-Line probably has2wice as many sacks as the average team. but the left side is great

Has anyone thought about moving Steinbach to RT? If tuck unfortunately can't make it back, maybe he would help us over there a little more than at left guard.

He's our second best lineman, it makes some sense. Guards are easier to replace on the line than tackles, I feel.

I agree with you but i fear that on this team we may be choosing to have a hole at RT or a hole at LG...depending on which we have ES fill

Joe is pure blue color, intelligent, respectful and one HELL of a pro-bowl left tackle.

I hope hes a Brown until the day he retires.

Actually the Browns have now Wink

I know Steinbach was taking some Reps at RT last week - as a possible option when Hadnot and Womack are healthier.

I do think that St. Clair actually had his best game against the Bengals. His worst was against the Vikings his first...then he had two bad games against 3-4 Defenses (just too much space for him to be good against OLBs) - finally another against a 4-3 and he did pretty good!

As we all know we have 3 more games with Inter Division foes that run a 3-4 + SD, Chiefs and Packers.

So my Brain Fart just might turn out to be something more...Hopefully not the normal result of "MORE" Eeker lol Big Grin

JMHO

I believe both Joe and Steiny need to stay right where they are....Fraley helped settle St.Claire last week ???...He possibly did...Something wasn't going right with Porkchop...maybe Hadnot can copy whatever it is that Fraley did...giving the line a little depth....

Yep.

I just shudder at the thought of breaking up the left side to "maybe" fortify the right side.

As a transplanted lifetime Badger fan, I was thrilled to see the Browns take Joe in the draft. I've been following Joe since his days at Wisconsin playing for Barry Alvarez, the man who said Joe was the best lineman he had ever seen, period. An intelligent, 1st class guy who is a great representative for the Cleveland Browns. I am proud to wear my number 73 jersey into every home game. They don't come any better.

you need a line to block for ap, minnesota has that, our line-joe=sucks, its a win win situation for both teams. they got a stud running back to fit their good run blocking line, and we got a left tackle for the next 10-15 years. i'd do that over in a heartbeat.

#73 = Only jersey you can buy that you dont have to throw away in two years. I'm sure the browns will make sure his entire career is as a brown.
