No question that Braylon has had his problems and has contributed to the ineffectiveness of this offense, but it is a team sport and the blame has to be spread around. BE has dropped WAY too many balls. DA's play has been horrific. KW hasn't been as good as last year and has perhaps been somewhat of a distraction to team chemistry. The offensive line hasn't been the same...especially without Tucker. About the only offensive players that have done a cosistant job and played with some fire is Jamal Lewis (who is ALWAYS intense) Joe Thomas, and Eric Steinbach. And the few times we've seen Cribbs and Harrison in, they've done pretty well. The entire offense seems out of sync, and until they find that team chemistry again, it's going to be a long season.

Yep it is a great read. Hit those 2 nails on the head, BE and DA are the 2 main reasons this offense is putrid

Edwards said that he was not concentrating during the Wash game...strange comment. I feel he is not focused and that is partly due to our casual coaching staff that allows the team to wander mentally.
Maybe Edwards is not ready or not thinking ahead or not rehearsed in practice. I tend to blame practice since you play how you practice. Crennel tried to improve Edwards with some drills to focus on the ball. He needs to focus on the entire game and work more with DA after each series. He is still good but you can see a relaxed attitude. P.Manning practices with Harrison and his other WR before each game. We need to do this...can't hurt. |

They're my team and I love 'em, but they are a mess right now. I don't care if you want to call it lack of discipline or lack of talent or lack intensity it's still a mess. Even a mess can be fixed, but I'm wondering who's going to fix this one.
Consistency. I'd take consistent close losses if they made sense. This is crazy. |

its the "Super Star Syndrome"
Last years success went STRAIGHT to the mans head. |

I would probably think half of his dropped passes are that he is so surprised the ball is actually thrown to where his hands are .. he doens't know how to react .. he's ususally reaching way behind him.. jumping 3 feet into the air .. or diving on the ground trying to catch DA's passes .. I wonder if that might have something to do with it to. But he's still young and will develop more. TO lead the league in dropped passes last year too .. and he's proven he's one of the best. Crap happens .. if he continues this throughout the season .. then investigate more

I think Edwards is a jerk. He is back to being "Leon."
It amazes me that he gets a pass [so to speak] from so many fans. He has been the worst player and the biggest disappointment on the team. The guy is so starved and enthralled by media attention, that he forgot that it's football that will get him the attention. Hey Leon.......go to Budweiser and tell them that you would like to see the "Leon" commercials revitalized and that you would love to play the lead role. |

Does this thread seem to be giving him a pass? Check out my sig. Giving him a pass? Worst player though? Thats pretty close. What goes first the chicken or the egg? Leon needs to do what he did last year. Shut up and play football. -------------------------------- |

I think you are right that he has gotten a pass from fans, while DA and RAC has gotten the worst of it but I think there is a legitimate reason for it. First, he's a wide receiver. The head coach and QB are the most important positions on the team and are always in the spotlight. Fans are quicker to call for DA's head than BE's. This is obviously because of the nature of the position and BQ is sitting behind DA. Everyone knows BE has played horribly, but you can't sit him. There really is no one behind BE... do you want Steptoe to take over for? Cribbs? Edwards playing well is really important because we don't have anyone else who can be an elite receiver (Stallworth's ceiling is a really good #2). With DA, we have BQ sitting behind and lots of fans/media (basically everyone except the people making the decisions) thinks BQ can outplay DA if given the chance. I really don't think the Browns have anyone who can outplay BE. Maybe if Joe J. was healthy, the Browns could go with Stallworth and Joe, but otherwise, BE has to play. In terms of his value to the position on the Browns, people view DA as expendable because of BQ. BE is the only guy on the roster who can be the elite wide receiver, so people aren't going to call for him to be benched. I loved Pluto's analogy of BE as a home run hitter who strikes out a lot. I thought it was perfect. |

call me crazy
think about it... in the Giants game for example, everyone else is set and waiting for the snap and Braylon hears an imaginary snap and takes off like a Bat out of Hell and gets a penalty... right then I was thinking, the dude is on that crazy caffeine crap like his goofy commercial you never know, maybe a lot the guys are taking that garbage and can't stand still, maybe even DA too But is he any different than last year? I've heard the nflnetwork guys say Braylon led the league in drops last year, even though he made the probowl (anyone know how to look that up?). He's the same old Braylon who can make big plays and big drops, only his head is bigger now. imo, I wish DA would stop looking for Braylon first and look for guys like Heiden, Steptoe, and the others and let him play decoy until he gets himself together. Go Browns ------------------------------ I'm just a fan, I know it's out of my hands, so I'm keeping an open mind. |

How do you go to the Pro Bowl and be the worst player on the team. We do NOT need to get rid of him.
We just need a real coach to keep these kids in line.Braylon is the real deal. Please don't give up on him. When was the last time we had a receiver like him!!!! |

Plenty of receivers have one great year and fall by the wayside. For Mr. Edwards to be the "real deal" he would have to have more than one outstanding season. So far he hasn't. If and when he CONSISTENTLY plays up to his hype then and ONLY then is he the "real deal". If he continues to play like he has this season he's going to be remembered as a huge BUST. Time and performance is the judge and jury. -------------------------------- |

A good friend of mine who is a die hard Michigan fan warned me when we picked BE that he can't catch a pass thats thrown to him. He does make spectacular catches away from the body. Still hoping my friend is wrong.

If BE and DA are the only 2 problems in the offense then the solution is simple, turn their performance around and everything falls into place. Just a thought.
GO BROWNS!!!! |
||||
|
EXACTLY!!! And that turnaround can come at any minute and then we will be off to the races!!! GO BROWNS-do to the Jacks like you did to the gints! |

Too true. It was funny when he played for Michigan though. ------------------------------------------------------------ |

Thats what Im thinking.Braylon Edwards is above the Team. |
|||
|
This team is a wreck.... The only professionals on the team that I can think of are Jamal Lewis, J JErivicous and Steinbach.... There are probably some more, but the point is, for the most part they are a bunch of clowns disgracing the unifrom if that's even possible after 9 years of garbage football....

Im tired of this team. and im no fair weathered fan. Been a fan for ver 15 years from CA and now TX. Never lived or visited vleveland either. But have been a die hard fan nonetheless despite the ridicule in high school, college, medical school, residency, fellowship and practice. Braylon is a starlite seeking player. But thats ok if he produces. In fact, the confidence helps players. Jerry rice is the epitome of class, confidence, and skill. Why can't young guns see that. TO played under JR and didnt learn a damn thing. Braylon drops a lot of balls. But its hard to blame him when he gets thrown a lot of crap. If 9 of 10 balls are miss thrown and 1 happens to hit the spot, u would likely drop that too considering you're not expecting it. And if you were doping a bit you probably have a harder time focusing. BE has the skills, (see college), he's just doping and frustrated with DA. If we trade BE to the pats, for example, he would flourish. The BROWNS and DA are root of the problem.

In the game against Washington, DA was trying to force the ball and was not throwing correctly.
When he forces the ball he throws the ball WAY too hard and has no touch on the ball. I think this is why he is so erratic. Lay off the mustard and pick up some more finecce. I don't care who you are, the ball is much harder to catch and field when it's a bullet. DA is throwing 5 & 10 yard passes with as much velocity as a 50 yard pass. He needs to soften it up a bit, not force the ball and we will see all of his receivers catching more balls. This is NOT to say that Braylon doesn't drop the catchable ball, he DOES. I AM saying that he would catch more if DA didnt fire a rocket every time. DA looked more confortable and seemed under less pressure and threw the ball much better in the Giants game. To me, that was the biggest difference from that game and the rest so far this season. DA seemed more relaxed... Maybe he forgot the 5-hour energy that day... |
