Funny how Bruce Arians was a terrible OC for Cleveland, but looks like a genius in Pittsburgh.
Talent on the field makes a difference.

I know this flies in the face of what most on here think, but I like Daboll. I'm not saying he hasn't made some mistakes (wildcat Cribbs up the middle twice on goal line) but I think he is trying many different angles of attack. I think he will be a great OC either here or somewhere else in time.

I view it as a new to the position, new to the team, lack of talent, QB quagmire (was it his decision to pull BQ? doubt it), hard schedule and all around bad luck type of perfect storm.

If we had an experienced OC the last few years I believe Romeo and Phil would still be here. Look how the Steelers helped Tomlin with experienced coordinators. I hate to say it but the Steelers are way ahead of us in this department and we shouldlearn from the best.

I agree. When you don't have much talent, it's critical to have a experienced and quality OC. MANGINI didn't want to hire good coaches besides Ryan. Mangini has too much of an ego and didn't want a coach to "out shine" him. Rob Ryan hasn't really been a successful DC in the NFL either guys. I like his fire though. His defenses give up a ton of rushing yards. We must get rid of Mangini to even have a chance to land any good FAs.

I'd have to agree with this one at this point. If an offense has less touchdowns than a defense at any point in the season, the OC should be in serious consideration for a firing. If we stay on pace with the bucks from '77 (I think that's what I read in an earlier post) then someone has to be let go just to get rid of the bad mojo. Daboll is the same guy who coached Farve to one of the worst years of his career.

We need to keep Ryan and let him continue to develop the D, but totally overhaul the offense...beginning with the OC.

This last decade or so is all bad karma for not giving Modell the stadium he wanted, and then this city running him out of town. I'd actually say it's a combination of running Modell out of town combined with the bad karma from running Billichek out of town and favoring an aged QB with no good legs over a future hall of fame coach. The combination of the two has added up to our "trading of Babe Ruth." Modell + Bellichek = Ruth in my karma/curse equation. If you add it all up we ran, what, 4 super bowls out of town. And when I say "we", I definitely mean the fans of this city.

I will never abandon this team and we will have our day again, but I definitely realize we are in some very lean years that don't look to be changing anytime soon...and so far I don't see that changing under the current leadership. You can't even say that we are the Red Sox of a couple decades ago, 'cause they at least sniffed success here and there. We are definitely the Cubs of NFL right now.

The routes that are being run are for an offense that can block, give the qb 3-4 seconds... The routes now are 2 seconds or less and defense's are 8-9 in the box and blitzing like crazy..... Again, it's the Tim Couch problem all over again. The right side is aweful, Steinbach should retire and the line needs to be built via free agency and 2nd and 3rd round via the draft but we need a RB with the #1 pick or trade the high #1 for 2 #1's.... Hope there is a team with two #1's that want our high pick.

Yes Daboll was the QB at Jets, but lets be realistic now, he did not coach Brett Favre. Brett does his own thing (calling plays, runs his show). Daboll maybe helped design the offensive plays with Schottenheimer, but thats it.

I went to the game monday night and was again frustrated by the offense, mainly the play calling... But i then watched the game again (DVR) yesterday and thought a few of those plays that were called we good, but WE WENT TO THE WELL TO OFTEN... TO MUCH...

meaning Wildcat and those quick hitch throws to the outside.

for one, we couldnt sustain drives long enough to get deep into baltimore territry, but we did get at least 2 first downs in almost every offensive drive... mostly it was 2-3 FD. I think we had 3 drives that had 10 plays or more. that is at least improvement over Anderson at QB, as he was lucky to guide us to 8+ play drives maybe twice the whole game.

i do think we will see the offense more opening up in this next game (at Lions, in a dome).

with waether being cold and rainy on monday night, the coaches wanted to limit drops, turnovers and all, thats why passes were short and gameplan was being called close to the vest.

Our defense played well for almost the entire game. Only 1 drive did i see them look out of sync. Take that INT away early in 3rd qtr and if we had moved the ball, game would've been close, down to the wire.

But the Ravens also played the game (play calling) to the climate of the weather as well. we hardly saw Flacco go downfield.

Maybe I'm remembering a different version of history, but the version I remember included a significant renovation plan for Cleveland Stadium that Modell wanted and then Modell packing up and leaving for Baltimore anyway.

And let's be honest, Belichick's record in Cleveland (36-44) ran him out of town. He wasn't Bill Belichick 'Boy Wonder' back then; he was just a rookie head coach and it showed.

As the cold weather sets in, and coaches begin to bundle up more, I realize that Daboll begins to look (and Coach) more and more like one of those characters from South Park. I know it's just a cheap shot, but hey cheap shots seem to be the order of the day this week.

Order of the day.. hummm

Well every person that knows football has said and I am saying Daboll doesnt have what it takes to be a OC. If that is a cheap shot I am sorry but when he call a play (They must run that play) dont tell him what you are seeing because he is (in his own mind) smarter than the average fan. Just run the play. When it goes wrong it is only because they dont exicute in His mind.. He is the worst I have seen kn 50 years.
watching the game they dont look to be organized as a offense. it is hard to watch.
