Wait, you're using tackles as a good statistic for CB's? You realize if they get a tackle it usually means it's because they gave up a completion to the receiver they were supposed to be covering, right? |
yeah, let's start over again. let's never have a system long enough for players to develop in it. let's never hold a coaching staff together long enough for any of that to happen.
![]() |
why not we been doing it for the last 10+ years. it works for us. |
Yes, I agree. We need stability and a long term system for our players to succeed in. Thats why you fire Mangini and bring in the right guy to do that with. What has Mangini done in his career besides becoming famous as the spygate rat and the coach no one wants to play for. Lets not talk about after 6 years of head coaching he never settled on a franchise QB and his offense was always pathetic. He's bringing in rookie coordinators who suck and he already showed he cant draft. Heck, the way he treats his players every dam agent hates him and tells their players to stay away!! Thats great! We'll be getting all the good players now! You dont plan long term goals around Mangini. He wont even nail another head coaching job in his career. Cleveland is so bad right now, we need nothing less than a proven guy with a proven track record, with a proven system, with great connections in proven coordinators. Only then will this team climb out of the gutter. |
Mrs. Brady, I know you are very upset your son was benched, but why do you have to flat out lie about the man that made the right decision to sit your son? Mangini had 2 winning seasons out of 3 and helped build the team that the Jets have in place right now. You also are ignoring what has been said by formber players that talked glowingly of Mangini as their coach. Your blind hatred for a man recognizing your son's poor performance is shading you from the facts. Why am I not surprised? |
Wow, after reading your glowing Mangini resume I almost forgot that the Jets fired him after 3 years. Can't imagine why based on your recommendation. |
Hes talking about the Jets team that hated Mangini and didnt want to play for him. The team Mangini put together that had a party when the guy was fired and was finally able to express themselves about mangini. Then a real coach comes in and they put their hearts on the field for him. Mangini is so hated in the NFL that even media members who were previously associated with the NFL bad mouth him without thinking twice. Those guys may not agree with what your doing but they stick together and keep it friendly. Not when it comes to Mangini. Mangini has no friends what so ever. Complete joke. Cant wait to see the offseason pick ups. You wont even know who they are. Agents are telling their players not to come to cleveland because of Mangini. |
I have read GLOWING recommendations from former players for Mangini. Please provide links to those that "threw a pary" when he left and that "hated" him. I cannot wait to see them. Until then, Mrs. Brady, we all know that you are biased and upset that your son was benched for his horrible play. It is nothing more than you being a fan of your son and not the team. I will gladly post links from players such as Kris Jenkins and Brett Favre that quotes them speaking of Mangini highly. Now, back up your claims with something more than sour grapes, Mrs. Brady. |
Hmm...lets see, Regarding Mangini being fired after 3 years, TE Chris Baker said, "It should have happened 2 years ago." S Kerry Rhodes said, "The whole lockeroom was getting ready to combust under Manginis methods" G Damien Woody said, "Its not fun, even when we win, its not fun. He shows no respect to players." LB Calvin Pace says, "Hopefully the guys in Cleveland have thick skin because it can get to you after awhile. Just glad hes not here anymore." Players description of Manginis coaching style: "He chafed players with an intense, dictatorial coaching style that created an environment of tension and paranoia." Hows that for proof? Now please show me your link about Mangini and Favre being best friends because I have about 10 more saying that they cant stand eachother and Favre was shoved down manginis throat. lol. schooled again!! |
If God was gonna give the NFL an enema, he'd put the tube right in the collected Cleveland Browns' rear................... |

looking for links did not do them. why? |
google the quotes. you'll get them.

Heres some more from the so called NFL broterhood that support eachother in the business. Guess Mangini is not in the club:
Boomer Esiason: "Eric Mangini can take the fun out of a 10-year-old's birthday party with Big Bird there. That's how miserable this guy is becoming. Cleveland deserves better. This is a proud franchise with great fans and you have one of the most stifling, if not the most stifling, of all head coaches in the NFL there." Warren Sapp: "Mangini is wrecking Clevelands present and future. Why would you go to Cleveland if you were a free agent?" Terry Bradshaw: "Mangini is terrible. He suffocated NY with his secretive and paranoid ways. I cant believe Cleveland hired this guy" |

Jeesh, how many copy reply posts are yall going to send? just RE: to whomever you want to argue with once the discussion gets to be replied to 2 times already, comon, I get tired of the redundancies.

Hey Chip,
Favre hated Mangini- get a clue - Favre hated the Principal's Office http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2008/1...re-for-eric-mangini/ Now that the Jets have gone down in flames and started their offseason, we can begin debating two questions in earnest. The first is whether Eric Mangini will be fired for steering the team from 8-3 to 9-7, while the second involves Brett Favre's future. The answer to the second may be contingent on the first. Jay Glazer of FOX reports today that the veteran quarterback who has made a marketing career out of being just one of the boys doesn't actually like being treated like one of the boys. According to Glazer, the quarterback is chafing at the amount of meetings and quizzes Mangini has for his team. Perhaps most damaging, Favre's play wasn't treated with any deference, unlike his days with the Packers. With the Jets, however, the sources say that Favre has been called to what they dub "the principal's office" and grilled about making bad throws that turned into interceptions. Those same sources say this is not just done in private. Mangini will also grill Favre about his throws in front of the team, just like everybody else. Given the amount of bad throws Favre made down the stretch, it must have been a rough December. The Jets shouldn't fall into the trap of trying to accomodate Favre. If Mangini goes, fine, but the brass must make the decision about the new coach based on all 53 players, not just one who may or may not be taking another NFL snap. |

How many do you want? http://fifthdown.blogs.nytimes...-players-on-mangini/ Darrelle Revis, CB I found out this morning. Ty Law called me and told me to turn on “SportsCenter”. It was on there as breaking news. I don’t know. I didn’t know what to expect from losing last night to this morning. It’s tough. It’s a business. Eric and I are very good friends. We were just in the team meeting now and that’s what it is. We know it’s tough in this league. Guys get switched around a lot – players as well as coaches getting fired and hired again. You just have to be there for a guy like that. I’m sure he’s going to be somewhere else next year coaching and doing his thing. Kerry Rhodes, Safety My initial reaction was shock. Even though you hear the rumors and hear the possibility of it happening, you don’t really see it happening coming off a winning season. It’s tough, but the reality of it is he is not going to be here next year. Now we have a whole new staff coming in. I don’t know if it’s a whole new staff, but it’s just uncertainty. In this league, when you’re the head coach or the quarterback and things don’t go well, you’re going to get a lot of the blame. He knows that. It comes with the territory. It’s just one of those things that happen. Thomas Jones, RB Everybody is involved. It’s not just one guy. All 22 guys who are playing on the field at each particular time have to come through. The coaches, it’s their job to put us in the best position to be successful. It’s not just one guy – it’s not Coach Mangini, it’s not one guy on the offense, one guy on the defense, or one guy on special teams. It’s everybody. Everybody is at fault for us not making the playoffs and kind of having a disappointing ending to the season. Chris Baker, TE There are 11 guys on the field at one time. It’s a collection of guys, it’s not just one guy. That’s obviously the case here… No, he didn’t lose the locker room at all. Guys went out and played hard. It was execution more than anything. There was never a point, since I’ve been here (that guys didn’t play hard). Even when Herm (Edwards) was here, guys went out and played for Herm. It never got to a point where guys were like, ‘I’m not going to play for him.’ You’re not only playing for him, but you’re playing for your teammates. Guys always went out and played hard. We just didn’t get the results we wanted. Kellen Clemens, QB I think there’s a sense of responsibility for all of us. I don’t know if guilt is the word I would use. We’re all out there on Sundays giving it our best. I think the 2008 season was frustrating and disappointing in a lot of ways. We’ll play the cards that we’re dealt now and go forward. Dustin Keller, TE It’s definitely a tough day, especially with the season over, and then we get news like this with (Eric) Mangini. He is the coach that brought me in and he had a lot of high expectations for me. I definitely thank him for everything that he has done for me. He has taught me a lot and you can’t say enough about him… Iknow it’s only my first year and I’ve only spent a year with him, but I can’t thank him enough. That was just ONE result of a search. I can continue to make you look silly, Mrs. Brady, by posting quotes from Kris Jenkins, Favre, Ty Law, and many others. I can also point to those that signed with the Browns after Mangini was hired. I understand you're upset your son was benched for doing a poor job. That doesn't mean Mangini is a bad coach.....but maybe that your son is a bad QB. |
Heres another one for you chippy, the Jets HATED the Mangina
http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/s...unday-Scoops:-Glazer's-latest-coaching-update In addition, there have been grumblings about how often the Jets have to meet. Many players privately take issue with how many meetings they have under Mangini. But the kicker that wears on Favre and others are little impromptu quizzes that Mangini often hits his players with during the week. Mangini will call guys out and ask them personnel questions about their opponents. Usually that's OK, but the difference here is that Mangini will ask offensive players who opposing offensive players are and if guys, including Favre, do not have the correct answer those players also get called out in front of the team. Again, nobody ever knows what Favre will do, even after he announces his intentions. However, everyone close to the situation feels he will, in fact, walk away and walk this time for good. |
Not ONE of those quotes actually DEFENDS Mangini.......Just saying - thats the standard reaction by players when their HC gets canned - go look up other player's quotes when their HC gets canned - All have similar quotes....... |
Easter you stole the post i was going to make LOL. chippy is a dope. Also uh duh mangini is no fun, it only takes the guy 5 secs to talk and put you to sleep.
Its no surprise the browns come out blaaaaaa, im sure his umm pre ummm game umm inspir ummmm ational ummm speech is ummm really ummm uplif ummm ting. BTW if you dont get the ummms just listen to a umm mangini press con. the umms and uhhhs hurt me |
lol
Chip linked an article of jets reaction the day they found out Mangini was fired when they were unaware of what was going on and they had to respond with a political "safe" comment. How about you look up my quotes after Mangini was fired for a few weeks already and the Jets unleashed their true feelings.. what a tool. lol. |
Yeah probably why he decided to shut it down on this topic - it's pretty well known that everyone (media, players, mgmt) in NY hated Mangina |
if i was bernie kosar, i'd quit today nov. 1, 2009.....why waste your time with a loser like randy lerner.....you can tell his dad made all the money....
i do not like what mangini, but give him time and i think we will be a better team. is there even a coach in nfl history to take a losing team and turn them around in 1 year?
What about the Dolphins of a few years back? From 1-15 (probably our record this year) to a playoff team in ONE YEAR. |
![]() |
They had talent that we don't. Period. Two Years, Two Pro Bowls. |
We traded away what talent we did have.
How many Head coaches are out there NOW unemployed who have won a Super Bowl?
( I am guessing 6) Cowher, Shanahan, Billick, Gruden, Dungy, Holmgren and we get Mangini?? duhhhhhhhhhhhh |
And brought in second-class Jet players. This falls squarely on GM and coach. I miss Phil. |
very true about the dolphins i forgot about them. but we did trade away all the talent we had for what???? o yeah draft pics that might bust, good trades. NOT
Yeah, people need to leave that one out of discussions about turnarounds. They had Brown,Williams, MVP runner-up pennington, a good o-line, and some good defensive players. Talent is not comparable neither is the situation. Holmgren GM/President and Mariucci or Gruden Head Coach. |
IMHO the bottom line is this: The mishandling of the QB situation this year punched Mangini's ticket out of town sooner, rather than later. It speaks volumes about his talent eval and problem solving abilities, or lack thereof.
First he says Quinn is the better QB, then pulls him for DA who will give us "spark", then finally admits DA sucks. (maybe, we will see who starts vs the Ravens, not like it matters, they are going to demolish us on our home turf) You can talk all about the "we lacked any kind of talent whatsoever on this team" or "Its a 5 year rebuilding process, give them time" (just like PS/RAC was a 5 year plan) Nothing seems to change around here. |
So your point is they had talent, but poor coaching made a talented team look pathetic and 1-15...ok... So how do you know this team had NO TALENT AT ALL, maybe it really is just the coaching? Was that not the arguement we made to fire PS and RAC? A team that went 10-6 in 2007 regressed to 4-12 in 2008, it had to be the coaches fault? I'll stress again, that was year 3 of a FIVE YEAR plan there too. Lets not forget that St Clair and the RT situation was brought on by none other than mangini too. |
I'm willing to bet if Mangini had those 3 guys on offense he wouldn't be 1-7. I do stick up for Mangini but, currently don't know what to think about him but, let's put the hate aside for a sec. He would win some games with those guys even with the current o-line and defense. Holmgren GM/President and Mariucci or Gruden Head Coach. |
I have showed you no fewer than 4 and you want to say 1 or 2...that is a LIE!! Mangold Ferguson Revis Washington He also drafted David Harris in the 2nd round... |
Really? Add these comments to the above: ``Certain things you don't see coming and it catches you off guard,'' said cornerback Ty Law. ``It's unfortunate. Eric is a great coach. He deserves better, especially from us as players. ... No, he didn't lose the team. The guys were behind him 100 percent. To say he lost the locker room, no.'' ``I'm surprised. I didn't see it coming,'' echoed tight end Chris Baker. ``The way this business is, you have to expect the unexpected, though.'' ``Eric and I are good friends,'' said cornerback Darrelle Revis. ``I''m sure he's going to be somewhere else next year.'' Safety Kerry Rhodes pointed to the Jets' effort in their 24-17 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday as proof that they didn't quit on Mangini. ``We came out and we still fought,'' said Rhodes. ``Everyone played a role (in Mangini getting fired),'' said wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery. ``We should've done better as players. I could've done a better job of making plays. Eric is a good guy. It's tough to see him go.'' Funny how Mrs. Brady will go to such lengths to defend her son and slam Mangini, isn't it? Claiming that the quotes were the political thing to do even though the coach was fired and could do nothing to them. It's a crock from a very upset mom of a benched player. She may feel a little better if her son still hits his incentives if named starter again, though. Add all those comments to all of those players the signed with Mangini here with the Browns and Kris Jenkins' comments that were obviously in favor of Mangini and the picture being painted by Mrs. Brady is obviously biased by her son's being benched and her anger about it. |

Gee Chip, glad you're enjoying the season so far. Going well isn't it? Too bad your boy got benched today, I know you're probably a worried mother concerned for her sons welfare and as a result taking it out on others. Take a chill pill. Your boy will likely be starting against Baltimore. Though for the life of me I can't understand why he was benched with 3 minutes left. Seemed like a Manweenie thing to do. Ah well. At least our running game is up to snuff. You were right by the way, we WERE all set at the position. No need to look further or waste any draft picks there. We are awesome on the ground. Zero rushing touchdowns for a RB in over 14 games. Can it get any better? So glad I was wrong about that....
I can obviously see the reason for your love of all things Mangini. 1-7 is an awe inspiring start and his devotion to YOUR son is heartwarming. However, I believe the Owner is having some doubts about the mysterious direction the team is heading in. He could of course ask Jamal Lewis, but seemingly he has no clue what the plan is or if there even IS one. *snicker* First pick of the draft here we come. I'll bet Banks will pimp a receiver. *snicker* -------------------------------------- Abandon hope, all ye who enter here. |
I love how someone thought that Mangini was going to be the shred of hope to turn this Cleveland team around. Seriously no red flags went up when he did absolutely nothing when coaching the New York Jets. Mangini is not the only mistake for the Cleveland Browns. How about our two choke artist starting quarterbacks. Anderson should feel proud of himself, putting up a 10.5 QB rating. What a joke. And what was the point of putting Quinn out there late in the fourth? What a panic move by Mangini. I would have respected him more if he would have let Anderson play it out.
None of those are glowing endorsements....... You honestly think Mangini's the right guy??? |
