Last year you guys were talking coach of the year. This year after playing 3 of the toughest teams in the league, you want his head on a platter. Against Cincy, we are suppose to win. No one gave us a chance against Dallas, and Spittsburg. Let this guy work through these problems.
Firing a coach during the season is inviting more problems. RAC WILL BE ON BOARD FOR AT LEAST THIS SEASON..FACE IT...DEAL WITH IT! If after the season there isn't enough progress made, then look for them to make a move. The only way we get rid of RAc this season is if we go 0 - 7 or 0 - 8. Then the season would be a wash. Until then let's fix the short term problems (penalties, lack of scoring)and let the front office deal with the long term in the off season. |

RAC is not head coach material! His life style is too cushy. WE NEED A REAL LEADER!!!

My open etter thread got blocked due to the 8 page rule. The real reason our O sucks is because we REFUSE to run the ball.
This is for Eotab who mentioned "balance" and that I don't know what I'm talking about when I say we need to pund the ball 30+ times: How many offensive plays do teams typically get on average in a game? ------------- Can we PLEASE stop rushing 3 and dropping 8 on defense? |

I'd like to run the ball more often too! But RAC and Chud aren't very good at calling the running plays. In the pitts game I believe we had 19-20 runs of 2 yds or less. What a joke!! They need to look at the Denver schemes and get a clue!! It wouldn't matter who our RB is with this lousy, predictable playcalling!!

coaching, coaching and coaching. just watched the end of the first half. 57 sec to go and 2 time outs, clock running. we fail to take a time out on 4th down. if cribbs gets a half way decent return we have time to make a few plays and maybe try a field goal for us. if not a good return, take a kneee and run the clock out. basic football is not into the thought process of rac.without a doubt the worst head coach in the nfl.

Yes but we took a TO to "freeze" the Bengals FG kicker! LOL!

I think why they will not put Quinn in becasue if he get what 50% snaps they have to play that extra bouns

ok lets cut da and give quinn the bonus

Too late for analyses, friend. The overall problem is clear: disorganization is causing pain to most of the fans. It's as if somebody had driven a nail in our collective skulls. No need to analyze: somebody has driven a nail into us. The nail must go and the wound must be healed. Who is "the nail?" Everybody knows. Just read the names in the comments. Additional analyses are post-mortems and nothing else. You can't use logical insights to revive a corpse. |

You must be the King of Pain. |

No your wrong RAC must go..you live with it.
He proved his ignorance and arrogance when he started Anderson...Anderson is suckking as usual, if they were playing a good high school team today they would be getting beat. No it's not all Anderson ( though he has no confidence and horrible) This is a poorly coached game |

Lets open our eyes and see the "REAL" reason DA is sucking.
1. Offensive line is not doing its job. We are back to were we were 2-3 years ago and beleive be Quinn would not do better 2. Coaching. The play calling thus far this season has been horrible until the second half today. Lets see we ran on first down just about ever time. We never tried to open things up which in my opinion is a HUGE part of our problems. We must go down the field to compete in this league. Blaming a single player is just way to short sighted. There are many other problems than DA. I was ready to see Quinn myself today just to see if they would change the play calling. Fact is DA can do the job if the team supports him. Thats everyone... coaches, players and fans! The predictable play calling will get us killed in 2 weeks they better work on something. |
||||
|
yeah we should open up so DA can get intercepted again.....Jamal ran and we won... anyone see a pattern? |
||||

romeo. he is the head guy. he is here to make sure all works like it should. the man is a fool. why do you think no one else wanted him after all his years in the nfl? HE IS A FOOL. an he has left know room to say other wise. if he is here next year,then its the way the FO wants things.

First, it will make the organization appear in complete disarray to the NFL and the fans; second, they would probably have to pay Romeo a HUGE severance package. He's not going anywhere during the season. Let's stop talking about it. |

Well...Rogers is obviously too heavy. Way too heavy. He's done a creditable job, and the D hasn't played that bad this year, really. DA is a problem. He only looks at his 1st rec. - never 2 or 3. Can't improvise. With the o-line concerns, this is a really weakness. Braylon is a little soft. JJ is a loss, and where is Stallworth? On the bench. But it does come down to coaching. The discipline, the lax attitude, and the penalties are all a result of a lack of assertive leadership, imho. Injuries have hurt, no Cribbs, Stallworth, Steinbach, weeks off in the pre-season, etc...but seriously, suspect management of the team, and lack of discipline are apparant. Why not let Quinn play? He couldn't do any worse. Teams have a bead on DA - no mobility, and tunnel vision. Back to Rogers. With a swift kick in his large posterior, I think he would be really successful, but I'm telling you, ya just can't carry that much weight around. It's unhealthy, and his endurance will start to be a problem. But yes - Marty would suit me fine. The schedule after the bye is brutal. Brutal. No chance for even 6 wins. I hope I eat my words, but for some reason, I don't think I will.

Versatile Dawg - I think the reason is you - your fired

Excuse me, but didn't WE WIN today? All this complaining is useless because as of today we are done losing! Come on giants, THE BROWNS are now hungry and mad! We owe you for playin mid-season ball in the preseason while we were still trying to figure out what kids we were keeping.

anyone seen Drew Brees rev up the Saints?? thats a college fun atmosphere and enjoying football.
Anderson and other players need to show more togetherness on the field....the defense is showing it and i think Mike Adams is a good teammate to have on the team, the guy can cover a bit and make plays and rev people up. jamal and the other guys just need to relax a bit more....they are too eager, the line up wrong due to it, they falsestart and jump offsides to much trying to play individually |

1st thanks for the thread Vers. God I hate the countless ranting threads, and have stayed away because I know that is all that most if not all the threads are or shortly become. It’s pretty sad that, that is all the majority can contribute. Trying to figure this thing out seems to be a much better choice of topic then ranting endlessly.
I’ll follow your format. My thoughts. Coaching No question there have been coaching mistakes, like all mistakes they become amplified when you’re losing. Clock management has been a consistent theme in the press and most of the fan base. My take has been this. RAC has to become more involved in preparing his coaching staff, if he is going to rely on them to manage the clock. That’s where I think where missing the boat. Let me explain by example. DA in the Pitt game I think completes a pass to KW2. KW2 is tackled in bounds and DA looks to the sidelines (Scherer)for guidance as to whether or not he should take a time out. That’s when the trouble begins. It’s like they never had any idea what they would do had they completed the pass and the player had been tackled inbounds. That CANNOT happen. In fact RAC began yelling at the SJ for the timeout. So me in this instance I blame the OC and the QB coach for not getting the time out. They call the plays, they should be aware of the what if scenario. Make no mistake though the poor clock management falls on the HC, period. If those that serve under him can’t get that part right he must take a stronger hand. Another issue is personal grouping. It has been terrible at times. The players don’t seem to know what personal groups their in. Again though it’s all about what ifs on the parts of the coaches. I think RAC understands how to prepare the team but his coaches don’t, due to a lack of experience in handling these issues. The real issue is why does RAC continue to allow his OC, DC to make these calls? Why doesn’t he get more involved with the game decisions? Again though RAC has to shoulder the blame and RAC has to correct it. These issues cannot continue. I think he needs to get more involved in the game day decisions. Being a long time assistant that was allowed to call the game leads RAC to be a hands off kind of coach on game day. If I am RAC I take charge until the coaching staff does a much better job. I believe I saw RAC involved much more in the Bengals game that at anytime since he became HC. I saw him talking to DA on the sidelines after nearly every offensive series, same goes to talking to players from the defense when they came off. Offensive Line The O Line has not played well as a unit. I know everyone thinks that all the blame goes to 2 people, RAC and DA. Well folks it don’t. Its way more involved then that. This line really misses Tucker, and while Hadnot, would make a great backup he really isn’t starter quality. Same goes for Shaffer. In fact when Sowells came in I saw no drop off in play from Shaffer. We run to the left 80 percent of the time, and defenses load up on our right side because they know where weak there, and we are. Tucker will go a long way towards shoring up our right side. However, as long as Shaffer mans the RT spot will never be effective running to our right. We weren’t last year and this year it’s worse with the absence of Tucker. 98% of the time if there is a break down in the pass blocking it comes again from the right side. One of the biggest reasons DA has struggled this season is because of breakdowns in blocking along the right side. Worse yet when we have fallen behind in games teams have loaded up the right side even more. Leading to more breakdowns. Job #1 for any O Line is to keep the QB clean, our line hasn’t done well at that this season so far. DA has pretty much been under constant or consistent pressure, and that leads to breakdowns in his play as well as the balance of the offense. It truly does all start up front. DA God this is getting long. DA shoulders some of the blame for the short comings of the offense, equal blame goes to the line and to play calling. I think the number one problem DA has at this point involves his fear of making a mistake. It leads to non aggressive play, and it also leads to playing not to lose. I don’t like it. And how I see it is like this. DA is a QB that is going to make mistakes period. That is who he is, but he has always at every step along the way been an aggressive QB, that does take chances with the ball. That’s who he is and trying to coach that out of him doesn’t make him a better QB, it makes him a tentative QB that’s thinking too much instead of just being who he is. Like it don’t like it DA is best when he is aggressive, and I don’t see that from him now. If I was RAC I would tell DA to just go out and play and be aggressive. DA much like Farve is a gun slinger period, trying to change that will never work. Play calling has been an issue. Example. When it became crystal clear that we weren’t trying to run the ball enough what do we do we come out and run the ball on every down. How about a play action pass, and hey while were on the subject, how about why don’t we run more play action passes anyway. I think I only saw like 3 play action passes all day against the Bengals, why not? I like Chud, but folks his play calling has been along the same lines as DA’s play. Calling plays not to lose leads directly to losing. Chud needs to get back to being aggressive, and at the same time we need to mix in more running plays. I noticed this last season. 1st down Chud likes to throw, if that fails, he will run on 2nd down 95% of the time. How about we break from that pattern? I honestly believe that one of the reasons our offense has been stuck in the mud since the close of last season is the predictability of the play calling. I noticed it, and so do the teams we play. It’s not the plays that kills the offense it’s the predictability. Got to break that pattern. The lose of JJ has been huge, and I thought it would be. It’s hard to find a guy like JJ. Big tall strong runs great routes and catches everything, especially when you need it most. The thing I find most striking about JJ and the Browns is that looking back when JJ got more involved in the game the offense really seemed to take off, his absence is huge. BE Sorry Vers I don’t buy what your selling here. BE has dropped way to many passes, and yes his play has held the offense back. But I really do think it’s just a slump, and no I don’t think he is a cancer. I think he is a very intense young man that wants to win badly, and I have a hard time thinking that that is a bad thing. Opinions are what they are, I certainly wouldn’t try to change yours, but you have never liked BE. I’ll leave it at that. Rogers Sorry again Vers, no way do I think Rogers has been a bad pickup for the Browns. I do think that overall the defense remains a work in progress. I have been encouraged by their play at times. But Rogers doesn’t shoulder any more of the blame for the defense then any other player. He has been a team players so far, so good. The player I have the biggest problem with on the D Line is SS. He runs his mouth non stop, but his play is awful. Watch where teams run folks, you’ll soon see what I mean. But our number one problem on the defense is our LB core, especially in the middle. The thing I found most striking about the Bengal game plan was that instead of having the ILB read and react they where clearly given gab assignments which actually made us vulnerable in the middle area in the passing game. However it took away our ILB weakest asset reading and reacting. Simple go here, and hey it worked this week. Injuries What can you say to this subject? It is what it is and when a team continues to make wholesale changes in the off-season like we did last off-season and the off-season before it is almost impossible to witness the improvement that comes about as a result of those changes if #1 you can’t get all those players on the field together and begin to build continuity. Our biggest disadvantage, when we go up against teams like Pitt, and Balt, and Dallas is lack of continuity. We have OK players as starters at every position, but we lack depth still. Or the depth we have lacks experience, either way, when we have players that are dinged up and you lack depth, and you face off against teams that don’t have those issues, and in many instances have multiple years of playing next to the guy they are shoulder to shoulder with, well your bound to get your arse handed to you, and we have. And hey folks it isn’t an excuse it’s a reason. If you can’t see it for what it is a reason, then I’m sorry for you. What it does, is it leads to the self destructive behavior that prevails over reason on these boards. Thinking we should win when the deck is clearly stacked against us isn’t smart or reasonable. Try reasoning it out, please. Closing If we can shore up the issues we have in coaching (very fixable), get healthier as a team in all areas and play to our potential we can still make this season interesting. I have long held to the idea that this teams real window of opportunity would come open in 2009, I still believe that. Having said that though, given the brutal nature of our schedule, and given the facts that we haven’t been healthy compounded by a lack of sound depth has led to a slow start. Will do better, even against the best “IF” we can get and stay healthy, and begin to build some continuity on defense. BTW It runs much deeper then the HC and the QB guys!!! JMHO Dawg |
