I dont agree with you here. Many teams would give up allot for Winslow but i hope we never have to see that day. He is sub average, ok yea sure, mabee if you looked at him as a clasic te because he sucks at blocking. But he is probly the best playmaking te in recent memory. |

"undisclosed illness" cure all = wins.
think k2 rips the browns today after we win a thriller yesterday in OT? i highly doubt it. well maybe...if he does'nt catch the winning TD pass prolly. man up and play ball mouth. you're lucky to be playing for the cleveland browns right now. |

If it was staph, he would have a hard time staying awake, let alone play football. I had an infection in my knee after surgery, and there is no way it clears up in 3 days. Also, he stated he had no infection ,and didn't lose any weight. He either lied then, or is lying now. Point is, he's a liar and can't be trusted. |

This may be the last year for KWII in Cleveland.

Here's the Team's response to K2's comments ... it WAS Staph and now he's going to get his hand slapped for saying so.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-browns-winslow&prov=ap&type=lgns If the link doesn't come through, it's a short article: Browns confirm Winslow had staph BEREA, Ohio (AP)—Browns coach Romeo Crennel confirmed that tight end Kellen Winslow was hospitalized with a staph infection and may discipline the Pro Bowler for comments made following Sunday’s loss to the Washington Redskins. Winslow spent three days in the Cleveland Clinic with the infection, which has been a problem for the Browns in recent years. Last week, the club refused to disclose Winslow’s illness. On Sunday, the 25-year-old revealed he had staph and complained about the team’s handling of the situation. Winslow also said he “felt like a piece of meat” and was disappointed general manager Phil Savage didn’t check on him when he was in the hospital. I'll never abandon my Brownies again ... but I reserve the right to get very VERY depressed sometimes" :-) |

and from nfl.com here is another confirmation:
http://blogs.nfl.com/2008/10/20/crennel-winslows-comments-are-a-distraction/ A day after Kellen Winslow said that he felt like he was treated “like a piece of meat” by the Cleveland Browns during his recent hospitalization, Browns coach Romeo Crennel expressed disappointment in how the Pro Bowl tight end is handling the situation. “If he has an issue, he should address it with the team, not the media,” Crennel told reporters during his Monday press conference. “He shouldn’t go to the media first.” After the Browns’ 14-11 loss to Washington, Winslow confirmed that a staph infection caused his recent hospitalization and said he was upset the team wanted to keep the infection quiet and blamed him for not wanting it revealed. “It’s a distraction for the organization and for Kellen,” Crennel said. “It’s taking away from football questions.” Crennel said that the Browns will investigate the matter internally and decide later if Winslow’s comments warrant a suspension. Winslow said he was upset general manager Phil Savage did not call him while he was hospitalized. “I heard from Romeo Crennel and I heard from my position coach (Alfredo Roberts) when I was in the Clinic. I heard from my teammates,” Winslow told the Cleveland Plain Dealer on Sunday. “But I never heard from the main man — Phil Savage — and that really disappoints me. Sometimes I don’t even feel a part of this team.” Winslow finished with two catches for 17 yards in his return to the Browns’ lineup after sitting out the team’s 35-14 win over the Giants on Monday Night Football. “Kellen’s a very emotional player,” Crennel said. “He didn’t play as much as he probably wanted to play.” |

I have often wondered if KW's attitude breeds inconsistencies in the rest of the players. Last night was one of the first times it showed on the field I think. While he was not involved I wonder how well we would have done keeping the same lineup last week?
Not putting aside our inept QB but either way what if it is leadership... |

Response from the Browns:
http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2008/10/brown..._winslows_staph.html Browns coach Romeo Crennel confirmed today that tight end Kellen Winslow suffered a staph infection, but also said he wished Winslow would have kept his complaints in-house and not gone to the media. "It's a distraction for the organization and for Kellen,'' said Crennel. "He should've come to the organization first if he had a problem.'' Winslow told The Plain Dealer Sunday night that he had the staph infection and that he was upset that Browns General Manager Phil Savage didn't contact him while he was in the Cleveland Clinic for treatment. Crennel, who talked to Winslow while he was in the hospital, said he feels the organization showed concern for Winslow during his ordeal. He said he feels Winslow and the organization can co-exist in the aftermath of the controversy. He said Winslow made his remarks in the heat of the moment, was coming off an injury, may not have played as much as he liked, and that his emotions spilled over into his personal situation with the staph infection. Crennel said the six staph infections on the team since 2005 have all been different, including some pre-surgical, some post-surgical, and said that the team can't pinpoint one source of the infection. He stressed that the team is doing everything possible to keep the facility clean. Crennel said he would investigate the entire situation and then decide whether or not to fine or suspend Winslow. He said he would try to keep any sanctions within the Browns family. |

The org treated him 'like a piece of meat'?
How quickly he forgets his Evil Knievel days. I'm anxiously awaiting my phone call too. |

Winslow just said what everyone else already knows why punish him for that. How about not punishing him and fire Phil and get someone in there that cares about players and about winning. Maybe then we will have less injuries and less "staph infections (JJ, BE, K2, etc) and less horrible players playing inconssitantly week in and week out.

Discipline the player? What, for calling the teflon GM out? Maybe RAC should discipline himself for poor play calling or not having the team ready. Winslow has a right to be upset, if what I read is true. No, not the GM failing to call him. It sounds like that was the straw that broke the camel's back. But not to disclose the medical problem and then say this was done at the player's request, when it was staph is just crazy. People were speculating whether he had a STD of some sort, and it was staph. |

So we LOVE K2 for his passion and his heart, we talk about him being one of the only ones on the field that consistently shows passion for the game. Then we criticize him for being passionate after the game about something that was very personal to him.
It might have not been the best time for it but jeez, the guy needed to get it off his chest. Crucify him for wanting to clear up issues about him and possible STD's, swollen grapes etc. ----------------------------------------------------------- Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. --Albert Einstein |

I'll only be angry if we cut KW2 or trade him for something useless.
If we can get a very good CB or LB I'd be happy. In life, you don't bet on the odds, you bet on yourself. |

wow how many soon forget..yes Winslow has heart but not to mention J Lewis and J Cribbs in the same sentence is just crazy. Actually it is funny how many picture Winslow as the "most heart"..well I would say 95% of this team has just as much heart as Winslow. It is CRAZY to say one has more than another teammate! I always read how many wish the others played like Winslow..I would say give me a team with attitudes like J Lewis ANYDAY then the high profile ..its all about me attitude like Winslows. Players like Lewis and Cribbs are the ones that should be heard! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why do people care so much about how many posts they have? |

Golly Coach ... I would think you would actually appreciate this distraction, since you never REALLY like to answer football questions. ********************************************************************* ... at least we have the Cavaliers. |

listen man, ever since the motorcycle incident, he has done nothing to be a distraction... he wants a new contract, yes but still played,, he could have held out, but decided not to. its his body, and you get beat up out there, the browns can also cut him just as easily... so he is protecting his money... yes he makes a lot, so why cry about it, but if you can die from it, would that be considered a lot?? i mean come on, to his family???
thats the point.. Winslow really has a point, there is staph problem, and the organization has to do something about it. Winslow also just didnt like the idea that he had a staph and organization didnt say anythin.. and let the rumors be a groin injury when in fact it was just a staph.. but the point is, winslow just didnt see the problem with letting it out. its an organization fault, not a player fault. also winslow complaining about savage not contacting him.. look what that really means is, he doesnt look at romeo as the man to be respected but rather the main man is savage, which think about it, in the press conferences do you pay attention to the coaches charade? or do you look into phil savage's press more closely? personally i listen and read in between the lines of phil savage's conferences and practically ignore crennel's conferences. |

i dont think he had a staph infection cant see how he could get one anyways.im sure its prolly something embarrasing but it obviously wasnt anything too serious or he wouldnt of been playing so why should he expect savage to check on him i dont really think he should have to.i think he realized that the team doesnt need him look how good we did when heiden took his spot. the guy has talent no doubt but browns would be better off trading him while they can.we need leaders not cry babies thank god for jamal lewis

I've read through most of these and mine will probably get perused over and forgetten like the rest of you..but here's MY ... $0.02..
From the day we first got Kellen i was angry because i remembered his Miami days..i looked at Jeremy Shockey..the products are virtually the same. With this latest thing whether the FO asked him to keep quiet or the boss didnt call or whatever, the point is...Kellens teammates were pleading with him not to say anything to the media..that isnt being a team player at all, to bring that drama onto your squad.. He talks about being a team player and always playing his heart out for the team?? BS! he does that for himself! he wouldnt feel right if he didnt play that hard, that wouldbnt be Kellen Winslow..dont let him fool you into thinking he does that for his team,he does it for him, thats who he is, and he do what he do..but neway.. they were pleading with him but he had to do it, what kind of a team player is that? He speaks about being that way but then when it comes down to it, the ONLY time he can ACT like a team player is between the white lines..because he does play with tenacity and commands the defenses respect, ill give him that..he is a superb athelete..having said that though.. I dont think it was a coincidence we played like more of a TEAM the week he wasnt there either. (much like.. Shockey out.. Giants SB run) The team consists of 53 guys and i know we have more than 1 tight end..heck we have 3 other tight ends, all who are capable of playing in this league..and we could get a bundle for K2..why keep him here?? As was stated earlier, he has the most infamous agent in football, he already expressed his wish to be traded to the FO..and yea he could have gone public with everything...but honestly... would the media have been on his side??or would he have just looked like a foolish stubborn young adult complaining and wanting more, just barely 2 years removed from a high publicity motorcycle crash that almost cost his team millions of dollars and ended his career? My point with all of this is it sounds more like Kellen just wants out of here, and any little thing is going to tick the guy off and set him off.. you can feel the tension and it makes others play tense. When Kellen wasnt there, everyone was flying to the ball, executing properly..I'm not saying hes all of the problem and DA isnt too good either but.. When you do have a guy like DA out there, who isnt completely in control, still young, and trying to be a leader of this offense.. and you got a guy like K2 staring you down and givin u looks like 'how didnt you get me that ball', it weighs on u throughout the game, much like T.O. can to a QB Personally I think K2 is a cancer on this team and has to go, everyone on here is so frightened like "omg hes our only good player" that is nonsense man..he is a freakish athlete but we have a good team here when everyone comes in and we put it all together. You guys are crazy to just call out Phil because one hot headed brash ignorant young adult, AFTER a disappointing loss..is like wahh the front office didnt give me a sponge bath while i was in the hospital. Give me a break. Here we go Brownies here we go, Woof! Woof! |

You know, last I heard, KW2 was a soldier! A soldier does what he is told, asks no questions and is willing to die for his team! What happened to that guy? Oh, a few million dollars later and he changes his tune. Pay me a few million and you can treat me like a piece of meat, no problem. He wasn't too concerned about any of this when he was popping wheelies in the parking lot! Screw Kellen Winslow Jr., he's a hypocrite and very damaged goods!!! Whatever team gives this guy a contract, and I pray it isn't us, is a fool!!!
