Remember when players would specifically talk about not even wanting to come play a game in Cleveland, let alone actually play for Cleveland? I remember a WR from Seattle, it might have been Koren Robinson getting quoted in SI saying that this was his absolute worst favorite place to play a football game, and that he wished he didnt even have to waste his time getting on the plane. Oh how times have changed.

Did anyone see this? : " even if he currently weighs 275 lbs."
If this is accurate, what has Law been doing to keep in shape? Eating twinkies and channel surfing? I'll take Ralph Brown |

Yeah, I have no desire to see Alexander playing here. If we sign a RB, I'd like to see Jones backing up Lewis. If it's not Jones, then leave it as is. The road to the National Championship goes through O-H-I-O! |

maybe we can talk about law when he drops his price. he is way to old to be asking for the money he thinks he should get. dont get me wrong the guy is still good but he is to old to ask for what he wants

Has anyone heard what law is asking for? Everyone says he is asking too much, but I have never seen a number.

I really, really don't believe we need, should, or would benefit from picking up a new CB at this point. Besides, if you watch his footage, Law would almost be a better fit at OLB than he would at starting CB.

If the Browns offer is good enough, I certainly think that it would be one place where he might play. It's not a secret that CB is one of our positions of most need. ---------- Pan Obama, hovorite po anglický? |

I liked Ty Law a decade ago, but I don't trust him right now!
#1 He still thinks he's a starter, but he is more of a nickle/dime back nowadays. #2 He is not one of those guys that helps tutor the youngsters since he sees them as competition. #3 Money. If Ty has a change of attitude and is willing to come here for less money knowing his role will be as a nickle/dime back and to help develop the younger DBs, then I wouldn't mind him joining the Browns. I think Ty has to big of an ego to accept that role. Thanx for the sig ClevelandBigDawg! |

This reminds me of the conversation where everyone said Randy Moss wasn't worth a third round pick
Anyhow, who should we surround our young cornerbacks with? A Pro-Bowler w/super bowl rings who played for Romeo? Doesn't sound that bad at our weakest position |

FlapJack is going to get on my case again, but I can't help it. Are you people insane? Except for Attack's post at the end, the rest of the posts towards the end here are ridiculous. You guys are so far off. Law is still a pretty good cb. He can still play. He is very intelligent. I'm not saying we will get him. I am not even saying we should get him. But damn man, most of you don't have a freaking clue as to what you are talking about.
Alright Flap..........have at it. |

I would gladly take Ty Law, but if he wants the big money, it doesn't seem likely. Maybe he'll take less money and come here for a year to prove his worth, who knows.

Ty Law would be a great pickup for this team. If money is the issue at this point in his career and not a super bowl shot then stay away. I think that this guy may be hungry for 1 last shot at the title. 4-12, 9-7, 4-12, is not the records a quality Vet like Law is going to play for. KC isnt going anywhere for a while. Any stud Vet like Moss, Favre, etc will not go through the riggers of a year in the NFL knowing they have no shot at at least a playoff oppurtunity. You cant blame them, how many of us would not retire from work knowing we wouldnt get a raise the upcoming year. Most would say screw it it aint worth my time. BUT if there was a promotional shot an a 4% raise we might gut out another year. Needless to say I hope we land him, I see no downside to having him, and the young kids will learn from his presence and league knowledge.

With his recent team not looking for his services and really not many teams clamoring for his services - Including here.
The interest with Law is more he with us than us looking him up. Law has approached RAC and has told him that he would like to play here. We are contemplating it of course - as stated he has a wealth of knowledge and in our Defensive concept. Most important cause we got a lot of youngsters and he could be the Vet leadership they need. But as a player - we all know the legs go first. And in the NFL just a slight slip makes a good-great player into a rather mediocre one and the southward fall is fast from there. Is it possible Law is at that stage? Not being a Chief fan and watching him daily I wouldn't know to say his legs are going. Lets put it this way...if he still has it, he should have no problems signing a one year contract with not much monetary value...if he is done physically, he will hope and stand out for that one last paycheck. We'll see what happens. He came to us. Savage has stated we could think about if he signs a small contract and comes down from his lofty contract being sought. I just don't think we are as desperate as the media indicates. I'm not at all certain if Law has lost his Legs. What I am certain...we ain't no elephant burial grounds. JMHO - he could be good for the kids if he accepts that role. New OC in 07-New DC in 08/ Road to respect is here!! Woof! Woof!! Woof!!! |

Uhhh..the chatter is unbelieveable..
Law is older..but the guy still has skills and there is no other guy sitting out there who could fit better..he knows Rac's system..and I'll tell you what..until he comes in and shows he couldn't handle being a # 2 , you almost have to plug him in there..let him compete..even if he is the # 3 guy..that upgrades the unit tremendously. |
|||
|
Yeah, I was thinking he would challenge for the # 2 spot, but at the very least, he would be invaluable in the nickel and dime packages. He is VERY good in zone coverage. Makes great reads. He's really smart. I love how he jumps routes. He even comes off the man in his area and jumps the route, surprising the hell out of QBs. Law can still play.

The more I think about this, the more I like the thought of having Ty Law, regardless of cost for two years! The key is does he still have it PHYSICALLY. We have to bring him in for a live workout.
Ty Law's presence would literally alter teams game plans against us. As it stands now, every body will spread us out and force us to put our third and fourth corners on the field way to often. Ty may not be a #1 anymore, but with that knowledge he would be a beast as a #3 and move Cousins to #4. Problem Solved! Let Davis and James start off on special teams and learn for a year or two then take over. Must I say it? I am going to say it. "We gotta get this guy." LOL --------------------------- Heads I win, Tails you lose |

You're right twocents. If Law can still do it physically, and it looked like he could last year, then it would be wise to bring him in.
I know Junior has set a limit on what we spend, but he did raise ticket prices again and we DO have the cap room. We need another corner, and an experienced vet like Law who could come in our nickel and dime packages is perfect. And make no mistake.........Law is very good in that role. |

I think more importantly is that Law has to be very good at buying into the "team first concept" instead of just filling a role on the field and playing for himself and another contract. The last thing we need is a "me first" attitude guy that brings the worst out in everone in that locker room, and I think we all know how bad some of out guys ego's could be it that "team first attitude" is lost. IM A SOLDIER!!!!!

Smithdawg sez:
Give Law a workout; if he looks good offer him a 1 or 2 year deal of a base salary a little more than average for CBs and then add INCENTIVE bonuses in the contract like games played, INTs, etc. That way if he can contribute he can get the money that he THINKS that he is worth. That would be a win/win situation. I think that he could really help in nickel and dime coverages. |

I already said we should give him a call. But I won't insult those that may disagree. ********************************************************************* "If we win a game everybody is happy, if you lose everybody’s sad. That’s all you can do." - Coach Crennel |

I just wonder if he would accept that role? ********************************************************************* "If we win a game everybody is happy, if you lose everybody’s sad. That’s all you can do." - Coach Crennel |

We don't need this guy. If he wanted to come in as a Mentor, take moderate short term salary and share reps it would be OK. Probably not, he is holding out for cash/starting position.
There is a good reason he still has NOT been signed. He wants to much money and is getting high in age. Just because we have cap space doesn't mean we have to waste it on a 10 year old BMW, even if it still runs decent. Thanks but no thanks. And if you buy that BMW, you don't keep it for more than 1-2 years and only if the price becomes favorable. All Law supporters ask yourself why he hasn't been signed yet. We aren't the only team in need of CB depth. The plan seems to be waiver wire cuts that Savage & Co. will target. With 24 some CB's drafted, some decent talent that will be let go as training camp and preseason progresses. Hopefully, then signed the next day in a Browns Uni. Maybe a CB that was drafted that the Browns were interested in slips onto someones practice squad. My belief is that if they felt Law was the missing link, he'd already be here. |

I would love to see Law come to Cleveland, but I'm not sure if we have the money for him. And I'm not so sure he is worth what he probably is asking for.
I like the fact that he contacted us rather than us contacting him. Word. |
