EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – Quick-hit thoughts and observations from the press box…

**When ESPN throws a party, it’s a party. With all the extra cameras and banners throughout Giants Stadium, there’s no denying this is a prime-time, nationally-televised game. It’s been a while, but I guess we’ll get used to it.

**I like the brown pants. They’re different, definitely. But I like them. From the little I heard on the field a while ago, the players do, too.

**Kellen Winslow and Steve Heiden are in uniform and set to make their preseason debuts. Lawrence Vickers didn’t make the trip, so Charles Ali gets another start at fullback.

**He’s on fire. About 90 minutes before the game, Phil Dawson hit a 58-yard field goal at the east end of the stadium. Five minutes later, he turned around and hit another 58-yarder to the west end.

**It’s obviously a big night for Travis Wilson as he starts and for Steve Sanders and Syndric Steptoe, who should see extended action. Another receiver to keep an eye on is Lance Leggett, a tall, lanky target from the University of Miami who’s had some outstanding days at camp but has been battling a knee issue. He didn’t play in the first game. Leggett has a long way to go, but he has some pretty good tools to work with. It will be interesting to see if he gets some chances in the game.

**We won’t be live blogging during the game; there’s just too much to do and too much to cram while trying to catch a flight home tonight. But stay tuned, we’ll have updates of all sorts.

Good call on this one ... he studded out on that long field goal early on.

Got it right on Dawson.

Got it right on Leggett a few lines down.

I'm hot...which means I'll probably miss my next 50.
