After the Winslow, Edwards, and Leanord trades we should have at least the following draft picks.. 1,2,3,3,4,5,5,5,6,7,7. Who are some players you are targetting in next years draft?

I must admit, I was just looking at the 2010 NFL draft wiki website and was getting pretty excited for next year's draft. I guess at this point we are assuming that:

1) We have the Jets 3rd and 5th rounder for Edwards
2) We have the Bucs 5th round pick from the Winslow trade
3) We have the Panthers 7th round pick from the Leonard trade

That gives us 11 picks and plenty of options for packaging picks during draft day and moving up. This year will be tough to swallow, but I really like the direction we are heading. You build your team through the draft like NY Giants, Ravens, and I dare say the Patriots.

The NY Jets are really betting the farm for winning now. It may or may not work, only time will tell.

Honestly, where are you guys getting a 3rd and 5th from the Jets? I have not even see anything speculating on what we got. Other than other fans, anyway. If I had to guess the 2nd pick is 5-7th rounder with the 1st pick being based on incentives.

I always love draft talk...

I'm hoping we get either Sam Bradford, Brandon Spikes, Eric Berry, or Taylor Mays with that 1st round pick...

This team has so many holes, it will be nice having all of these draft picks...

We need:

RT
RG
QB
RB
S
OLB
CB
DE
ILB

Here's the source for the 3rd and 5th round draft picks....

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4538498

quote:
According to an NFL source, the Jets gave up draft picks in the third and fifth rounds in the deal, Schefter reported. The third-round pick is a conditional pick and could turn into a second-round pick if Edwards catches a certain number of passes this season. That is said to be a high number, but if Edwards lights it up in New York the way the Jets are hoping, the Browns then would get a second-round pick in return.

we are gonna draft GARBAGE. think of the MILLIONS that will be wasted next season on terrible players. that money couldve gone to starving children in africa. BILLIONS have been wasted the last 10 years on your Gerard Warrens and William Greens and children are dying of hunger every day. makes me SICK

Hey that 3 we got from the jets could be s 2 if Edwards plays well.

When this season ends, we draft Eric Berry and start over. Berry > Mays!

Let's see...

We'll probably trade down in the first round and pick up a punter.

We'll draft a couple players to be inactive each game in the second round...

The rest will be great special teamers!!

there is no way we go O-line in the first round...we have too much money invested in that aspect with Thomas, Mack, and Stienbach

I say we trade away BOTH Quinn and Anderson, pick up a veteran QB and then draft Bradford...

Currently we have one of the worst offenses in football...this can only improve by an efficient QB

You guys aren't even factoring in the extra 2nd round pick we'll get for letting the Jets move up and pick their guy from our top 5 pick.

We'll trade down 2 more times to pick up 2 extra 6th rounders as well!

Honestly guys, speculation on the draft is WAY premature. The College FB season isn't even half over yet.

If Braylon plays well (along with their QB getting him the ball) we will already have
their second round pick.

I wouldn't be surprised if we traded down depending upon who is available and whether we need to draft a QB

Though this is really premature, these are the guys I have been keeping an eye on.

In no particular order...

Brandon Spikes LB Florida

Dez Bryant WR OK State

C.J. Spiller RB Clemson

Eric Berry S Tennessee (duh)

Taylor Mays S USC (duh)

Terrence Cody DT Alabama

Though I havent been able to do a whole lot of research on these guys, watching their highlights on (gulp) ESPN, and seeing where they are slated on the prospect list makes these guys my possible "wish list" as far as first and second round guys go.Though most of them seem to be first round guys.

The other guy that I love for a possible 2011 draft pick or 2010 depending on his medical status is Mark Herzlich. Though he was diagnosed with cacer not too long ago, he is currently 99% cancer free and is expected to start practicing later this fall.

This guy is an animal on the field. He doesn't seem to have crazy SEC speed, but gets sideline to sideline well enough and destroys people. Whether he will come back and be the same player remains to be seen, but hopefully he makes a full recovery whether he plays or not.

You can cross Dex Bryant off that list now lol.

I thought teams were only allowed to have 10 picks in the draft?

I will say this now and continue to say this until draft day, I do not want Sam Bradford in the first round. I could care less about the injury, even if he threw 70 td passes this year I would feel the same way. He's from a spread offense and has been playing behind one of the best offensive lines in football the past few years. I think he has a decent arm but nothing spectacular, he's a great college quarterback but there will be a big time learning curve coming from that offense to the NFL. I think this is a great defensive draft, McCoy,Berry, Mays and Suh are just some of the players that should be available when we pick in the first. This is gonna be a very solid draft with some freak, NFL ready athletes looking to go top ten, lets no blow another pick on a quarterback...Besides Ryan Mallet will be coming out in the next year or two.

Nope there isn't a limit on how many picks u can have that i know of. According to this link several teams had 10 or more picks in last years draft. http://www.nfl.com/draft/story...h-video&confirm=true
That 10 limit that you might be thinking of is on Madden. I remember i use to trade a lot on their for draft picks and you weren't allowed more than 10.

Can't argue that the extra picks give us ammo to move up and down the draft board...which is something I like. Especially on the beginning of day 2 when teams take a breath and realize big talent that has fallen.

Also, we could package 3rd and 5th rounder to move up into the 2nd round for possible impact players.

I would love to trade down int he first round a few slots, pick up a 2nd, and still draft late in the top ten and get Mays or Okung. That would give us Mays, two 2nds, and two 3rds.

we do not need 11 rookies on the team ... we should use some of those picks to trade up to some higher picks so we can get 3 or 4 starters instead of 2 starters 3 back ups and 4 Practice squad and 2 that don't make the team.

You know, it would be nice to be able to draft a guy like Eric Barry, but Spikes is the type of player we really need in cleveland. People talk about not drafting Rey, well Spikes is better than Rey, but without the baggage. Besides, did anyone see Rey do anything at all last sunday? Mack is getting better every game too. I'm not writing this year's draft off just yet.

Isn't the draft day format changing this year? I mean that the 1st round will be on like Thursday all by itself and then continue on Friday with rounds 2 and 3. So your thought about teams catching their breathes and reevaluating the players that dropped from round 1 and then from round 2 and 3 is very valid. This is what the (and I hate to say this, but) Patriots do and they are very successful with it. As much as I hate the Patriots (because of their success) I would be all for us modeling the way we do business after them.

Some real good points have been made here.

BpG is right waaaay too early to talk specific players yet.

SavageisGod Browns have great opportunity to move up and down by pacageing a few lower rounds. Typically players selected after the 3rd or 4th round tend not to be impact players.

ACRC This is the bottom line. A few extra quality players vs quantity of picks.

With a few choice moves of picks to get 1-2 impact FAs and 3-4 draft pick could just be the the roster the Browns have needed to build on since.....well since '99.

As much fun it is to eye the draft you know as a plain fact that your mocks now all the way up until the morning of will all be equally wrong. No one was even remotely close this year. And I'm gonna go out on a limb as say next year will be similar. 4 or 5 of the picks will be basically understandable if not predicted and 6 or 7 will need 'splainin' after the fact. That's not to say we'll do well or badly, just unpredictably. The only guy in the last 10 years that drafted semi-predictably was Savage.

I think the contract with Anderson is a one year deal. If we retain him we will trade Quinn and add another 2nd rounder or maybe a third rounder for him. If we do not retain Anderson we will keep Quinn. Or possibly still trade him and draft a qb and sign a veteran so we can have two new qb's to blame.

You never know with the draft. I saw some expert say he wouldn't be surprised if Brady was traded by next weeks deadline. Even w/o any more in season trades we could package a 2nd and the extra 3rd to move back into the lower to middle 1st round if we see someone we like still there (a la Quinn) Depends on what this regime deems is needed. A RT definitely, also I would say another S. A pass rusher would be nice too tho maybe some of our current young guys MAY emerge.

Also a QB but perhaps we could get a bounty for the 1st overall pick if Bradford was still avail. I also kinda like Colt Mccoy too.

Please trade down and take the Predator, Brandon Spikes from Florida. If we've been looking for a defensive player to give us an identity, it's him. He is a mean SOB and a playmaker, exactly the guy we need next to Jackson.

I wouldn't be mad if we took Eric Berry or Taylor Mays. In the second or maybe early third pick up Charles Scott (RB from LSU) Then we can focus on the offensive and defensive lines

I think we have to have an offensive minded draft this year. Our D is the only thing keeping us in games and they will get better when they aren't on the field as much. That being said Eric Berry may be too good to pass up though. He is a dominate 3 year producer.
