No Qb's I would be interested in...

Rb- Leon Washington Smiler

Antoine Bethea, Indianapolis Colts (25)

While Bob Sanders is credited with being the heart of the defense, Antoine Bethea is every bit as talented and coming close to reaching that level. A 2007 Pro Bowl selection, Bethea wants nothing more than to start all 16 games again this season and continue to elevate his performance, striving to be mentioned in the same breath as some of the game’s best safeties. The Colts may have a tough decision between re-signing Jackson and Bethea if they can’t get either for a bargain.

Sorry, I have to say it...

If available WE GOTTA GET THIS GUY!!!

I disagree, I believe the egos are the same now as they have been for a long time. Some teams you notice it and some teams you don't. At this point I'm torn between Eric Berry, Jerry Hughes, Mark Ingram, and Russel Okung in the first. In the 3rd if Dan LeFevour is still there I would take him.

I believe Ingram is a true sophomore so he won't be coming out in this draft. Have to wait on him, but I also think he's impressive.

My dream scenario right now is Eric Berry in the first and Brandon Spikes in the 2nd
yes I think hardey could drop but not out of the first
then spikes could be next pick.

the biggest challenge could be round two when you have five potential suitors for him in front of us

After todays game I'm pretty sure we need a QB, RT, RG, RB, WR, DE, OLB, ILB, CB, CB, S, FS. That is 12 positions and we only have 11 picks. We need to get another pick and we will be fine. LOL

Next April the Browns will trade the No.1 overall pick to the Jets for the Jets 2nd and 4th round picks. See, that way they pick up the extra pick they need. llo

All our WRs are very young, QB should be the least thing we need honestly, neither of the QBs played well but its not really either of their faults honestly...

We will waste too much money on rookie contracts and will be hindered in free agency.

We will plug them in on opening day and expect them to be starters.

After a couple of years of growing pains, the players will finally show some spark. Then, we will trade them for more 3rd round picks.

And the cycle will continue.

Best is too small to be a feature back in the AFC north. I do think we need more explosive players like him. He's a like a Percy Harvin. I wouldn't mind drafting him if we trade our 1st round pick down into the 20's.

i really have done no research on this but the browns seriously need a stud RT ala joe thomas. i think if there is a guy the browns need to take him. does anyone know of any stud RT's coming out? i would go safety as well with the first pick. either or. should be able to get a good RT in rd 2. LB is weak position on this team. CB is weak too.
i believe BQ needs another shot with a good oline and recievers with a year of experience along with a real OC.
i say 1) safety- elam & poole are garbage
2) RT- see above for st clair..garbage
3) LB- need another ray lewis
4) CB-who can tackle
5) K-dawson getting long in the tooth
6) RB-JLEW same as dawson. harrison too small. davis is an unknown
7) does not matter. this guy never makes it anyway.

We need a QB and a RB... Any other choices would be a HUGE mistake. We needed a RB in last years draft and a LB with pick 2.... Ray-Ray would have been sweet in a Browns uni but we have Brian Robiskie... unbelievable !

Normally im all for o-line just because of how horrid our line has looked in years past.

But I believe that we are at the point where we have enough talent on the line to bring in a 2nd round guard or tackle, sign and average one in FA of whichever position we dont take in the 2nd, and our line will be fine. We have the building blocks in place with Thomas and Mack, Steinbach is still good, and fraley is a good backup. wohmack and St. clair will be fine as backups.

That being said, we have to draft and offensive playmaker with the first draft pick. Maybe a QB, but i'm gonna wait till the end of the year in hopes that we can see Quinn for some more games to make my mind up as to whether or not to write him off. I think we have more needs at RB and WR. The cupboard is BARE at those positions, we have no offensive weapons at all because they either got old (Lewis & JJ) or got traded (Winslow & Edwards). There is hope for MoMass and BR, but i think it would do us well to get a solid veteran addition for this group.

I'm hoping on the chance that Quinn may still pan out, and we can take a RB in the first, and either a guard or a tackle in the 2nd.

I know some here would like us to/or suspect we'll draft a QB next year. Maybe we will, although if we do I don't think it'll be in the first round. Anyways, my point for bringing up the QB position is because I noticed Kellen Clemens is a free agent next year. I'm not trying to advocate that we go and get this guy, rather I just wonder if anyone else thinks Mangini might try to bring him to Cleveland. Mangini has a thing for his former players and keep in mind that he drafted Clemens during his first year with the Jets. Personally I don't see him as much of an upgrade (if any) over what we have, but he does have ties to Mangini. Plus, Mangini comes from the Belichick/Parcells coaching tree that doesn't usually use high draft picks on quarterbacks. They usually look to the mid to later rounds or find a guy from someone else. Just something to think about.

As for the actual draft. I've seen Eric Berry's name on here quite a bit and I have to say I wouldn't be dissapointed at all if he were in a Brown's jersey next year. The kid can flat out play. He'd bring instant gamechanging ability to our rather anemic defense.

If we didn't take him I'd say take the best DL or OL available. Championship caliber teams are capable of controlling the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, something the Browns struggle with.

I would not trust this team with 11 draft picks
Give Ozzie Newsome part ownership let him have the final say.

Assuming we get a top 5 pick, and a team was willing to trade up netting us 2 first round picks or we package some draft picks to acquire another 1st rounder, if available would you be willing to take Eric Berry and Taylor Mays? Maybe teams would actually be fearful about going over the middle, instead of giddy.

I'm with you on this 100%. Worst thing we could do is draft a QB in the first round (costs too much). I wouldn't mind the DT out of Nebraska, he can't be blocked, him and Rodgers could wreck havoc.

Don't get to excited about draft picks.
This team proves it can't draft.
Ray Maualuga, Mark Snachez, Clay Mathews Jr.
Crabtree
just to name a few.
I give them a f on the last draft.
with 11 picks or so, they would be lucky to get a average starter out of next draft

How many crappy teams have to draft a QB early for you people to understand it's not the right blueprint. Build the D first 2 or 3 picks, get a OL(preferably RG as it is much more important a position), a TE, a backup cerebral QB(had to steal that from earlier in the thread), and some depth all around. 2011 let Mangini get HIS guy at QB and we'll know after that if he should be our coach or not. All that matter is how it translates to wins.

All that being said if I had to say how I thought our best road to success would be this is it. Trade DA. He has proven he is not a starter. Give Brady a year. With a better overall talent level we'll know for sure. Trade down to 8 to 12. Trades result in 7 or 8 picks. Get Brandon Spikes ILB, George Selvie OLB, Brandon Deandrick DE, Myron Rolle S, John Jerry RT/RG, Tim Hiller QB, Michael Hoomanawanui TE, Cam Thomas NT UNC. Our team will be much better overall. Big FA is Chester Taylor. If Brady doesn't work out draft a QB 1st in 2011 and we could follow in the Falcons/Ravens footsteps. If not go DL then CB and I think we'll really be able to contend.

We had the LT. Now we have the C. Next we got to figure out the QB.

Unless I missed someone or added incorectly I think this is a good synopsis of EM drafts, again it was different teams/needs/personel/ownership/GM/ect. so it's just food for thought.

Offense = 16picks
Defense = 12picks

OSU = 4
Clemson = 2
San Jose St = 2

One pick each from these...
Virginia
Oregon
Mich St.
Missouri
Florida St.
Wisconsin
TCU
Nebraska
Pittsburg
Mich
Nicholls St.
Purdue
Tennessee
Kansas
Arkansas
California
Georgia
Hawaii
USC
Norfolk St.

Actually, it is VERY possible we go OL in the first. Mangini has went OL high in the draft just about every year hes been a HC and we do have the need on the right side. It's not the "sexy" pick but it's the one I'm expecting. I personally would like Berry, Mays, or Spikes but I wont be mad about drafting a monster RT.
In the second round a RB would be nice if there is a power back worth the pick. If not a good safty or line backer.

** You mine as well get your heart set on a road grader type RT**

John I completely agree but I dont think there is a RB worthy of a top 5 pick in this draft. We need a great power back and I havent seen one so far in this coming draft. Maybe in the second Mangini will take a chance on one but I dont see it happening. We also need a QB because I'm convinced we dont have a starter on our roster, 2 great back ups but no starter, but I dont think we go there in the first either. I see us going with one of the three OL, Safty, or LB. If I had to put money on it we go OL.

I'm not sure about a Rt in the first. That would be alot of money on the ol. Maybe he would do that in the 2nd.
But think about it we need a TE,RG,RT, a hard hitting S,LB, a power Rb.
I looks to me as the best avail is who we should draft. We need some impact players. I say either a power running back or a hard hitting safety (Mays) in the first, Rt or TE in 2nd.
With 11 picks we need to hit on 4-6 impact players. IMO

Is it true that 55 receptions is the escalator on the draft pick for Edwards from 3rd to 2nd round? If so Edwards currently has 9 receptions as a Jet. I believe they will play 8 more games this regular season (assuming no playoffs.) That means we will hope for 46 catches in 8 games. That is 5.75 receptions per week. Not likely but worth paying attention to.

ah if that was upped to a second it'd be real nice. We could pick up a right olineman with that pick and still have 1st and 2nd to spend 1 on D the other wherever we want

I heard that in order for Edwards's 3rd to become a 2nd he has to caught 100 balls. He's not going do that with how he started this year so just bank on that staying at a 3rd.
