Indians have been on a roll lately, going 15-3 in their last 18 games. If they complete a 3rd consecutive series sweep tonight against the Tigers, they are sitting themselves pretty good for a September push at climbing back into the AL Central Race, IMO. Remember, outside of our record against NL (Interleague games where we only won like 5 of 18 games and the rest of the division had 13+ wins vs the NL, we pretty much almost got as an equal record as Chicago and Minnesota.

looking at the schedule the reset of the way, I think we may suprise and provide some last couple of weeks excitement.

after tonight, each team has 9 series left (pretty much 28 games remaining)

Indians
3 - home Mariners
3 - home WhiteSoc
3 - away Royals
3 - away Orioles
4 - home Royals
3 - home Twins
3 - home Tigers
3 - away RedSox
3 - away whiteSox

if we can go better than 20 wins in that stretch? What out!

WhiteSox

3 - away RedSox
3 - away Indians
3 - home Angels
3 - home Blue Jays
3 - home Tigers
4 - away Yankees
3 - away Royals
3 - away Twins
3 - home Indians

Twins

4 - away A's
3 - away Blue Jays
3 - home Tigers
3 - home Royals
3 - away Orioles
3 - away Indians
4 - away Rays
3 - home WhiteSox
3 - home Royals

I'm looking as if we're 12 games behind now becuase of tie-breaker. do you think we can catch them in the final month? we all remember what the Rockies & Phils did last year, around 10 games back beginning in Sept and they both went to the playoffs.

plus would Wedge pitch Cliff Lee on 3 days rest in final 2+ weeks to attempt to get us there?

i hear Ya! but wouldn't that be something if we caught up and overtook both the Twins and Sox.
and we still have Martinez and Hafner ready to come back, probably as DH'ers...

10.5 games behind now.

this weekend we have the Mariners in town. we need to SWEEP them and then the WhiteSox will be coming in on Labor Day for a 3 game series.
WhiteSox play in Boston this weekend so the lead could get to as close as 7.5 back by Monday. I'm hoping that Boston at least gets 2 of 3.

You have to wonder what shape they'd be in right now if they kept C.C.

And imagine their chances in the playoffs if they had CC and Cliff!

I can't imagine they would have been much better. They needed to win more games BEFORE he was traded.

Would be nice to see them finish with a winning record.

if the white sox finish at 14-14 it would mean the tribe would have to win 25 or 26 games the rest of the seaason. it would be awsome, just highly doubt it.

It is about time they started to play some good ball. That being said there is as much chance of them making the playoffs as my wife quitting spending money Big Grin . I really like what I see in some of the new wigwam guys choo and fransisco are major league hitters . I as every 1 else was sad to see cc go but the jackson kid looks good plus laporta has all the makings of a star but heard the same thing about marte . If the tribe can win 25 games in the last month of the season it would be 1 of the biggest comebacks of all time ,would love to see it but very very unlikely

I don't know if its just pure coincidence or just a wake up call to the players, but this team started playing much better once they traded CC, and especially when they gave up on the hotdog man.

Regarding the Tribe having enough, doubtful, but I won't put out the flame until they are mathmatically out of it.

At the very least, getting Cliff Lee the Cy Young is one thing to hope for, along with getting some momentum going into next season.

Sorry guys, but it's not gonna happen. But I do hope we have enough pride to finish @ third. Smiler

As big of a letdown the Indians have been this year, atleast they didn't throw away the season.

10 million to 1 odds.

We'd have to win out to have a shot.

looking at the schedule, don't think you could ask for more:

6 games left against the White Sox (div leader)
3 games left against Minn (wild card contendor)
4 games left against Bos (Wild card leader)

and the others are against struggling teams:

3 against Seattle
4 against Baltimore
3 against Detroit
7 agains Kansas City

still ain't happening though

Tribe is finally playing some great ball, but like most everyone else is saying, I think it's too little, too late. Their season got creamed early when they lost a BOATLOAD of games that they were leading or tied going into the 8th & 9th innings. Had to be 20+. Even if they only won 15 of those 20, they'd be leading the division.

"If ifs & buts were candy & nuts, we'd have Christmas every day of the year." --Dandy Don Meredith

Can't afford to get my hopes up now -- couldn't bear to get 'em crushed twice in the same baseball season!

Nevertheless.... OH NOOOOOOOOO! See what you did now? Wink

Damn Tribe. they got swept by the worst team in the majors at home. and could've pciked up 2 games on the whitesox. they have to Sweep the SOX now to even have just a chance to get back in the race, but its probably not going to happen.
