Sorry, this forum said pure football talk and I figured that Buckeyes talk was pure football. I agree, I love being hated as a sports team.

Maybe I'm a real homer, but I don't get it. Is it that everybody thinks the Buckeyes are over-rated, which may be true but isn't their fault or do they hate the fans for being fans? Why are our fans worse than others? Personally for me it's the Seminoles and their non-stop indian chant. Can't stand it.

Going to games as both an OSU outsider and as an OSU student, I can tell you that the fans are why most people dislike OSU.
...and not the good intellegent fans, which make up 75% of the folks in the stadium...
I mean the drunk arrogant morons who would rather spit on you, throw drinks on you, insult you, and threaten you with violence when your team takes a lead...
Thankfully "my team" lost that day... so I escaped with my life. Still some decided to throw beer bottles at my car while chanting "O-H-I-O".

I've been to games at Penn State, USC, Purdue, Michigan, and Michigan State, all wearing "the wrong" jersey... and I recieved some ribbing, but the same good natured ribbing that you would expect at a football game... Only at OSU did I (and the rest of my group) feel threatened and abused by the morons around us.

I even got it at a Chic-Fil-A in Canton once a couple years ago...
I was eating lunch wearing an ND t-shirt when two ten year old kids walk over to me and start processing passed my table chanting "O-H-I-O" and throwing in "Notre Dame sucks". I looked over at the "dad" to kind of say "can you help out here?" and he picks up his coat and says "get a real team's shirt".

Ohio State has a great program, I am sure there is some jealousy there. But most of the people I know dislike OSU because of the fans.
And most OSU fans that I talk to are proud of the way OSU fans treat others.
"well stay out of OUR stadium!"
Idiots.

That story rules.... I'm totally going to use it as my own. Maybe I'll even put myself in the story as the "dad".

There are idiot sports fans everywhere... I can't say that OSU fans are any worse than BoSox nation. Talk about obnoxious!

There are LOTS of GREAT OSU fans... but it's like Raider fans. The morons throwing batteries kinda screw it up for the rest of them.
And yes, there are morons everywhere. But morons at OSU just seem a little more empowered and proud of them selves.

And the Chic-Fil-A story...
It was funny. I almost couldn't believe that it had actually happened.
Great story though.
Feel free to pass it along!

Chic-Fil-A thing is hillarious, not saying its right, but damn funny.

The guys I work with are from PA, and they call the OSU fans that come out in scarlet/gray everywhere the storm troopers. They don't like OSU fans either. I play into it and am obnoxious with them, but in a fun way.

I do the same with the Browns, telling the steelers fans how Charlie Frye was going to be the next Montana and such...All in good fun.

Funniest thing about that is during the Earl Bruce and Cooper days most of northern Ohio was ND fans. I can't tell you how many of my high school and college classmates were Irish fans and are now Buckeye fans. Buckeye fans are very annoying. The other thing is that most have no other real affilliation to OSU other than being from Ohio, but went to another college. Be proud of that school. Hey my Zips are not very good, but I had as good a time at the Motor City Bowl a few years ago as anyone else.

I hope the Bucks make a big run and then flame out again when it really counts. When OSU and MU play each other I want to find a way to somehow have both teams lose.

They say there are 2 types of college footbal fans, the ones that love nd, and the ones that hate nd. Me I could care less if they win or lose.

It's hard being an OSU fan going to an SEC school but whatever, stick to who you are and represent the truth

Are the SEC fans extremely biased and annoying where you are. Its probably just because they a re loyal to their state in ohio, but i just cant stand osu fans.

We do have a reputation for having bad fans among other fans. I've seen plenty of it too and I know all teams have those problems, but we are very violent about it sometimes.

I think it also comes down to Ohio State just cleaning house over the last few years. High powered offenses and potent defenses that find a way to get it done. I don't think the 'fan-hatred' would be so bad if we didn't win so often.

It's too bad that all of the 'OSU fan haters' get their laugh at the end of the season.
