Supporting the "Brown Out" doesn't mean a thing. Don't buy the beer or concessions. Don't buy Browns clothing. A when the time comes, don't buy tickets for next year. That is the only way anyone will get the message that things have got to change.

Like an ill prepared football team with a cluless owner, and rookie OC that makes the now famous Miami invented 'wildcat' look like cat scratch fever. A DC that goes into a prevent, no pressure *D* when trailing. (To think he is a Ryan Roll Eyes) And a HC with an ever increasing losing record at the helm doesn't make us feel like fools? Roll Eyes

I am fairly certain YOU feel like a fool for other reasons...

If a football team is making you feel like less men than you have much bigger issues..

When you want to offer a solution and not JUVENILE "kool aid" references (which by the way, you would not be doing if you knew anyone at Jonestown) than you can say my name

I'll ignore your insults and stalking this last time. Any further stalking will be reported.

Now...Offer a solution? Like hire a headcoach with a winning record? Like hire DC that has actually built a decent defense. Or do you mean like hire an expeirenced OC that has had success at playcalling?

Sorry I've offered these solutions in the past. Didn't do any good. Enjoy your koolaid gabe

You should feel like less of a man for sticking up for this joke of a franchise we currently have...especially this douche bag of a "head coach"...get a clue, we have been bad for 10 years now and we just got a whole lot worse this year and that reflects on the coach and gm...we are not any less of a Browns fan because we are not happy right now, hell anyone who is still a Browns fan at this point in time is a DIEHARD fan to be watching this crap they keep putting out on the field sunday after sunday...if you want to keep blindly following this team without questioning anything then that is fine lemming, but don't bash the people have been lifelong browns fans that finally WANT CHANGE!!! and are willing to do something about it!

What exactly is this protest supposed to do? Make RL understand that things need to change here? Isnt that EXACTLY what he is doing with Mangini? Some of the changes Mangini is making is what this team has been starving for from the get go. This org was rotten from the inside out and all we're seeing is huge changes that will produce little to no results right away but will pay in the future.

I know you are sick of the rebuilds, so am I but this is the first time we're doing it from the basement up and it looks like its being done the right way.

Fans keep calling for change, yet they're upset with the changes that have been made. What gives?

Do you not agree that we need a major overhaul? Isnt that whats going on? I want a competitive team, not just for one year but for years to come. RL is trying to implement that and here we are staging protests.

Get the heck out of the way, let this man build a solid foundation for this franchise.

i hope the brown out goes through. i hope all the fans wear bags on thier heads or dress as clowns, will it really matter, not a chance.

RL already has our money in his pocket. we will continue to buys season tickets every year no matter how bad it gets, and we will write him the check with a smile... why do you ask, cause we love this organization, deny it if you want, but if you did not love this organization you would not be upset about their recent failure, and you would not be on these forums every week.

i am not questioning anyone's intent here, i don't care if you do or don't go to the games, but i will say, if you are going to sell your psl's let me know as i am looking to upgrade some seats.

Aside from possible missing Cribbs take 1 the distance, what does the late arrival do???? You already paid for your ticket, as stated earlier, all levels are trying to improve the team and we as fans are suppose to be fans for 59min, 45 sec of the game,... that will show 'em.....lol
I love the conversation on how "we give money and get nothing in return", like this is an investment, look this is a real simple issue, if you are sick of watching the Browns DON'T WATCH, if you are sick of paying for tickets DON'T BUY THEM and if you are sick of watching Cribbs this season BOYCOTT THE KICKOFF.
In the meantime the Browns fans will be supporting our team, like we always do, don't worry when things improve we will send the "bandwagon" around to pick-up all you that want back on.

THIS is what I am so looking forward to- a year or 2 into this and these guys are consistently winning and everyone will want to be a fan again.

THIS bonehead with the protest will be the first guy in line to hug everyone from Lerner on down...and he will think it happened because he sat out a kick off Roll Eyes

I'm not sure what some of you guys would have us fans do?... Do you want us to continue to go to the games and boo? That seems to be doing a good job so far huh?... Should we just not buy tickets and stay home on sundays? Do that and the team will move again... Should we buy tickets, go to the game, shut our mouths and watch the team we've cheered for all our lives get trampled once again? That sounds like fun huh?... I for one will deal with you guys calling me a "whiner" for not sitting when the league expects us to, I personally feel that it will not only send a message the browns front office, but it'll send a message to the NFL... MNF is the NFL's chance to showcase their game and I can't wait for the camera's to pan back on an empty stadium for the opening kickoff... The NFL has us all by the kahona's.. We either buy their jerseys, tickets, hats, and suport our lousy teams or they take them away... This type of protest is the only thing we can do to show the league that they depend on us fans, not the other way around.

So according to you, anyone that is not comfortable with what they are seeing on the field right now with bad coaching, poor play, and consistantly bad hiring practices, is not a Brown's fan. Classic! Roll Eyes

Look guys (and girls) these things don't just happen, other than the Panthers and Jaguars, teams don't just get created and win it takes time to build a team up to the 1 we gave to baltimore. My point is this, some of you can skip the kick-off and feel like you sent a message,.... fine. If you believe Lerner isn't trying to build a winner ( I believe he is doing everything he can), if you believe Mangini/ Kokinis have no more to offer this organization or if you believe the players arren't trying. If not 1 of these 3 issues, I don't see the point of "protesting".

We all said at the beginning of the year that we were a bad team, we are rebuilding and it takes time. Everyone wanted to be the wise but hopeful fan, well now 'the rubber is meeting the road' and we don't seem to have the stomach for what we knew would come.

I believe the solution lies in continuity, top down, we talk about not having an identity, but we run coaches out as fast as QBs. IMO Lerner made the decision to go w/ Mangini/Kokinis, we need to run with it more than 7 games into a rebuilding year.

The only fact you have in this statement is "poor play", I glad you are at a level to grade Mangini's coaching staff and have better hiring practices than Randy Lerner. The point is, as I stated above, we are rebuilding, maybe some corners of the world (i.e. John Madden Football) this happens in 7 regular season games, but not in the NFL. I don't recall anyone saying to be happy with where we are at, however, what does missing the kick-off do to improve our situation?????

He's a thought. What about instead of a "Brown out" we did a "Brown in"? Everybody gets to the stadium early and is in their seats before kickoff instead of still out tailgating. Let's tell the players we know the organization sux but we still support you guys. Show us what you got. Then we all cheer extra loud for our boys in brown and orange and against those purple rat turds.

Let's make a statement that we remember how to be fans and maybe just maybe the players will remember what it takes to win an NFL football game.

This is exactly as we've been doing for the last 10 years and it hasn't worked yet, but hay maybe if we keep doing the same thing over, and over, and over, things will be different this time huh?

Great post Jester !!!!! maybe if fans would try to have a positive impact or at least do what little we control (ie cheering) instead of whining about "deserving better" it would go a bit further. As to the thought that the fans have been in their seats cheering for the kick-off for years, that person must not have been at CBS, Im a season ticket holder and if 1/2 the fans are in their seats at kick-off that is a good day in cleveland.

I am a Browns Season ticket holder since 1979. Mike Randall and Tony Schafer are not true Browns fans. Lets sit out the first quarter. LOL. If you want to protest do not go to the game, do not watch it and don't buy the merchandise. I am going and I will be there for kickoff this is my team win, lose or tie. They are acting more like little children pouting in the corner because they did not get what they wanted. Great example for your kids. I am glad either of you our my parents because you are an embarrassment to Browns Fans everywhere.

This brown out is a really pathetic attempt at voicing your opinion, but what do you expect when dawg pound Mike is leading the charge. I don't know what they expect to accomplish by not being in your seat, you already paid for the ticket and as others have stated the stadium is usually not full at kickoff anyways.

I think if people really want to get your voice out on national tv, everyone get in the stadium early and just flood the field right before kickoff, delay the game, etc. After 10 minutes or so of delaying, head off the field and out of the stadium. That is a message the front office and the national media can receive from us. Followed by a petition to Randy Lerner to reimburse season ticket holders a percentage for the crap they have paid out year after year. Perhaps on the scale of for every season you held season tickets (i.e. 3 years) you would get 3 games free next year.

We have a decade of losing under our belt, a decade of wait till next year, a decade of humiliation/embarassment, a decade of players with no heart, a decade of coaching changes. Lerner has a decade of profits and in return he spews out a paragraph of the same garbage he's been feeding us for years. The man is a con artist, do some research on how the lerner family made it's money and read all the detailed facts on how sweet of a deal the city of cleveland gave him for the stadium. He owes us, not the other way around.

Actually ive been doing security there for 8 years been at almost every home game, and until this year most fans are in their seats at kick off, except for the few who who are late arriving or waiting in a long line somewhere. But go ahead and make up you stories

Not showing up for a kick off is not going to make them want to play harder! I like the sentiment and passion but this is not the way to show it IMO

You can thank free agency for this. It doesn't matter how devoted we fans are to this team, the truth is the love just goes unrequited. The only thing these players care about is payday. Win or lose they get paid. If we the fans are not happy with what is going on, well that's our problem, not theirs.

I am 61 years old and have followed the Browns since I was 6-7 years old.

My opinion of this whole deal is it is a bunch of whiners proposing this. Must be a sign of the times with all the whiners we have in society in general.

We as Browns fans stood up to demonstrate how we wanted to keep our team. Now we have have a bunch of victims who want to demonstrate our displeasure?? What a bunch of wimps some of our fan base has become.

Sounds like a bunch of band wagoners to me...."if we don't win I am going to protest"...LOL

I have season tickets and come up from Tennessee. So far I have been to see the games against Minn, Cincy, and Green Bay.

I still plan trips up for the games against SD and Jacksonville...sorry, gave up the Mon. Night game a month or so ago...and am glad I did as it would be sickening to see a bunch of band wagon fans standing in the concourse or waiting to enter.

My advice to those of you who plan to do this....just don't go.

It will make the place smell better.

Best post I've read in a long time.

GMdawg's and "we'll lay on the ground kicking and screaming" and then "hold our breath till we turn blue" hits the nail on the head as well.

With Browns fans often called the best fans in football, now a "supposed childish fan" wants to boycott the opening kickoff of a nationally televised game because we're not winning.

How embarrassing. How childlike.

Guess we (my wife and I) will have to be in our seats well before kickoff and screaming twice as loud to make up for any childish, supposed fan that supports this. I challenge real, true, diehard fans to do the same.

Waaa............I WANT MY MAYPO!

"Badges"? "Badges"? "We don't have to show you any stinking badges".

Thought it was the same fans that fought to bring the team back, but regardless, seems distasteful, and will change nothing. The organization knows the problems, and protests will only compound things.
I'm looking at getting tickets for this game, it'll be my first time, and if you see only two people sitting there at kickoff...it'll be my wife and I.

That's rich...Brown's fans need a couple clev area guys and ESPN to make them look like fools?

Like an ill prepared football team with a cluless owner, and rookie OC that makes the Miami invented 'wildcat' look like cat scratch fever.

Didn't we hire a coach that had a winning record and went to the playoffs.

Can the mess leftover from last year be fixed right away? No, but he's trying.

To everyone who doesnt see the significance of this "Brown-out"....I think you have to read between the lines.

yes its true that the seats are intended only to be empty for the kickoff and nationally everyone will notice this as the cameras pan the stadium and commentators make small talk of it.

What does this prove? This is a very subtle "you will see more of this if things dont change"....except it will be because people wont buy the seats and/or the merchandise.

Do you think Lerner cares about that? I sure do.

This is a prelude to phasing out ownership. Believe me,...unless he is in the business of losing money,....he will unload the team if/when this fan protest becomes a complete rebellion.

So if Lerner wants to profit from one of the best football cities in the US,........he needs to take the proper steps such as holding people accountable,....making himself known and have a calculated plan and timeline.

If he cannot do this or hire someone who can effectively do this (and live up to it)....then he will lose this team unless he likes to lose money.....and I am just guessing but I dont think he owns this team because he loves the Browns. He owns the team because it is a passionate fanbase that supports its team financially in all aspects.
