ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Holy Toledo.

K.C. Lopata missed a 26-yard field goal with 4 seconds left, giving the Rockets a 13-10 win over the once-mighty Michigan Wolverines, who are off to their worst start in 41 years

Alex Steigerwald's career-long 48-yard field goal bounced off the crossbar to put Toledo ahead early in the fourth quarter and it came up short on a fourth down to make a comeback possible for college football's winningest team.

Michigan seemed to set up overtime by driving to the Rockets 9, but Lopata's chip shot from the right side of the field sailed to the left of the uprights.

The Wolverines (2-4) has its worst six-game record since 1967, two years before Bo Schembechler started coaching them, and their streak of playing in 33 straight bowls is in jeopardy.

They knew Rich Rodriguez's first season would be a rebuilding one, but this isn't what anybody had in mind.

Toledo (2-4) pulled off one of the biggest wins in school history -- rivaling wins over No. 9 Pittsburgh in 2003 and Penn State in 2001 -- and became the first Mid-American Conference opponent to beat Michigan in 25 games.

Nick Moore caught 20 passes -- a record against Michigan -- for 162 yards and Tyrrell Herbert returned one of his two interceptions 100 yards for the first score of the game.

Toledo's Aaron Opelt was 33-of-50 for 257 yards and didn't throw an interception unlike his counterparts.

Steven Threet was replaced in the second half because of a bruised elbow after completing 7 of 11 passes for 55 yards with a TD and an interception, a light toss that Herbert stepped in front of in the end zone.

Nick Sheridan wasn't much better and that was a problem for Michigan.

Sheridan was 8-of-16 for 65 yards and threw two interceptions.

Michigan's Sam McGuffie had 25 carries for 105 yards.

He also caught five passes for 44 yards, including one a 29-yarder that left him shaken up but put his team in position to extend the game -- at least -- after getting the ball at its 33 with 1:32 left.

The Wolverines foreshadowed what the afternoon was going to be like by losing 2 yards on their opening drive and throwing an interception on the second drive that was returned the length of the field.

The Wolverines made it 7-all on their ensuing possession when Threet connected with Brandon Minor for a 27-yard TD. They converted a fourth-and-1 by the nose of the football on their next drive, stalled at the 9 and settled on Lopata's field goal.

Steigerwald missed a 21-yard kick late in the second quarter, letting Michigan cling to its 10-7 lead at halftime. The Rockets opened the second half by converting three third downs to set up Steigerwald's game-tying kick.

After the way the Buckeyes offense looked yesterday I'm not sure which I enjoyed more; their victory or the Michigan loss! Way to go Toledo

THAT'S MY BOY AARON OPELT! Fremont Ross High School alumnus, from Fremont, Ohio, the hometown of Charles Woodson. Finally getting some revenge by sticking it to the team up north.

Ball State - QB Nate Davis from Bellaire, played basketball and baseball against his older brother Jose, who was a good athlete.

The only thing I could say was WOW. If Rich Rod doesn't pull something out of his a** this year the Michigan Alumni is going to have his a** in the off season. Michigan lossing to a MAC team on there home tuff has never happened in there schools history and dip s*** Rich Rod comes in and just sucked everything up!!! I love the Blue but Rich Rod does not belong. I don't care about the rebuilding crap right now we don't have anything to rebuild too!!! But whatever Go Blue get rid of Rich Rod while you still can.

^not a surprise, finally you get what everyone one else other than UM fan has been trying to tell you guys like 4EVA!...Dick is a BUM and needs to go! (its the whole KARMA thing)

The sad part about UM losing to a MAC team is that it has no shock value whatsoever. When Michigan loses its like..."Ok...so what did you expect"

Now if someone like tOSU or a Penn St. happens to lose to UM,(anything could happen) that will be looked at as an UPSET of the year type deal.

Sad times for the BIG10 my friends

Woot!...for my alma matter. UT engineering baby.

The bad part is UT is probably the 4th or 5th best team in the MAC this year. It snot like UM lost to Ball State or the BG team of a few years ago or the Gradkowski/Moore/C.Taylor teams...this is an average MAC team.

Go Bucks!!!

As a UT Grad of the Glass City, it was good to see those Rocket boys get the victory. Michigan sucks, good look with Penn State, or not!

I've walked on the campus... lol

seriously though, it was great to see a MAC team go into the Big House and win. I was a CMU boy so its good to see from a division stand point too.

I was a freshman when Opelt was a senior at my high school(Fremont Ross) So everyone in Fremont was pulling for Opelt and the Rockets to win weather they liked Michigan or not.

I wish I could say I played with him,but I played soccer all throughout high school instead.

Superman does play for the Browns;his name is Joshua Cribbs.
